The new AI seems fairly poor. It also seems to use different files, thus bypassing Cert's own highly praised mod. An enemy will now just do an endless scissors maneuver once you get behind them.

I have to agree with Viikate. (And he should know).

Nothing new about the AI.

Still the same endless rolling, and they are still as stupid as a box of rocks, and will fly into terrain all on their own.

The new content is wonderful though, and my hat is off the Team Daidalos for their efforts.

Haven't played with it that much, but so far I like it. The new quick mission builder is an improvement. I like the maps.

I was never impressed with the AI mod in the first place.

The claim was for DB, not SB bombers. Razz

Probably even easier as they are slower and bigger.

AI must be placebo then, but i also haven't done much fighting against the I-15 or I-16s in the QMB context.

It just seemed like they were a bit more manueverable which could be attributed to the aircraft design and not the "smartness" of the AI.
Sorry for sparking that flame, it just seemed that way at the time.
Now that i look at it, they might be slowing down from the negative G effects on the engine, which is something that is not apparent in other craft.

Dont mean to sound like a suck up, but unless i'm mistaken this sort of thing takes a bit of time and the fact that you guys must've spent your free time working (for free) to help improve the game shouldn't go unrecognized.
So.. thanks again for this great patch, and I'm greatful there is a group willing to develop the game and make it cooler for future use.

I am liking what I see.
I definitely liked bailing out over an enemy airfield and not having every gun in the area open up on me. Veryhappy

Thanks agian Team Daidalos for your work on this patch.

Howdy,
Logged a couple hours on it myself last 2 nights and I like it! It installed easily, and runs at least as well as before!

One item I'm thrilled with, is .. its seemed to have fixed my long standing problem of the mouse cursor locking up when you open the initial menu screen.

This has been logged and complained about on the forums for many moons. With no fix that would work for me. And I for one had it all the time. At every startup I used to have to Cntrl-window back to my desktop and come back in for my cursor to be unlocked so I could interact with the game. This seems to be fixed on two of my computers now! Awesome.

(Though as a software developer, I'm scratching my head as to why, if this was indeed fixed, its not mentioned in the readme. If they fixed it, and they seem to have, then tell us and take all due credit. Unless it was purely by accident. Oh, well, I'm happy that one of my gremlins is gone!)

I still get it even now on occasion. Sad Not as bad thou. I am suspicious my HP computer update program is the culprit this time I believe.

tried to lock it out with process explore but it keeps coming on back. Angry Blue Guy

I get this only when I click on the Il-2 .exe and then click on something else before it goes to the loadup screen.

Also the MC-205 AI seemed tougher to me but maybe I haven't flown against them enough, they always struck me as lazy before but the other night they were zipping all over the place when they were in my sights.

It works perfectly, the new planes, maps and of course the "scramble!"-function are great..

but: TEH BAR IS OPEN AGAIN.

You know what I mean.. oh, and in this conjunction: the wing area of the Ta-152 C has been corrected. My impression was that this beast now actually can do some maneuvering.. can anybody else confirm?

I did a 1 v 1 last night with me flying the TA 152C, against an ACE Tempest V. Started at 5000 meters and ended up on the deck, as usual. It was a difficult encounter but I finally got the cheating, no blacking out, AI bastage.

The 152C feels more a fighter now and much less a very fast locomotive.

I'm really lovin' this new patch. New planes. No FPS wasted on shooting at parachutes. Much improved QMB. Nice.

Seems Daidalus slipped in a couple of undocumented gifts as well:

> Mip-mapping seems to be better rendered.
> Smooth water edges for ATI users.
> Friendly AI is a bit chattier, particularly if you are not the leader of the mission.
> Slight increase in spawning of random flights in DGen missions - don't know if this is coincidental...

I'm a happy customer.

Must be mate since it is 24kph slower than in v4.08 Big Grin.
To be more precise Tempest (596kph @ SL) should be around 8kph faster @SL than TA-152C (588kph @ SL) is now...

I've checked out TA-152C speed at SL but I haven't checked Tempest's speed... since they didn't fixed it in no way.
