I can't wait to see this machine in action! This video was posted on the German R/C tank forums. The full details on the progress of this machine are sketchy at the moment. I was able to dig up the article below. If anyone can find out more details please share it with us.

Check out this engine test!

Tiger I Returning to Aberdeen

If you've been wondering about what's happened to the Tiger I tank that used to be at the U.S. Army Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen, we have an update for you!

According to Dr. William A****er, the museum's director, the museum's Tiger I - which has been in England undergoing restoration - was scheduled to return to the museum in November 2006, transported in a U.S. Air Force C-5 Galaxy aircraft.

Unfortunately, the aircraft that was scheduled to transport the Tiger was the one that crashed at Dover Air Force Base on 3 April (fortunately, however, all 17 crew members survived). The crash and the demands for air transport to support military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan completely upset the transport timetable. However, Dr. A****er expected the Tiger to return to Aberdeen in 2007 on a date yet to be determined.

In a bit of related news, Dr. A****er also said that the Ordnance Museum would be moving from Aberdeen to Ft. Lee, Virginia. Everything - including the 16" coastal artillery gun and the German Leopold railway gun - will be moved there to a new 175,000 square foot facility the Army is planning to build. The move is scheduled to take place in 2009.

A speck of dirt on your windscreen could turn into an enemy fighter in the time it took to look round and back again. A little smear on your goggles might hide the plane that was coming in to kill you.

Definitely not "green." The father of a friend of mine, a U.S. Army engineer in WWII, had the honor of having his squad assigned to kill a Tiger with a bazooka. They figured they were all dead men. He said they could hear its engine start from a mile away. I believe him. Fortunately, the order was cancelled.

They should have just brought along a .50 cal as we all know those are Tiger killers. Roll Eyes

i dont understand why you never hear about Flamethrowers asaigned as Antitank weapons.
as far as i know a flame thrower takes out anytank no matter the armor. if you you get a good flame heading on the engine it will explode

at least i used to be like that in the old strategi game "Close combat"

hmmm, 88mm cannon and two 7.92mm machineguns versus a M2 flamethrower (max range ~33m). Ya, I think I'll sit in my tank as I laugh too hard when I see you approaching from a mile away.

..... Would have been an excellent idea. Watched an episode of Stargate Atlantis last Friday night in which US troopers were firing 50cal HMGs over iron sights and effortlessly knocking Wraith attack fighters out of the sky.

An awesomely powerful weapon!

Absolutely awesome!

Wasn't there a King Tiger being restored as well?

Oleg: Pilots win dogfights. Not airplanes. If a pilot is not particularly good, regardless of a plane, he'll always have a sinking feeling that something somewhere is wrong... and not everyone is willing to admit that the fault lies within.

As a last ditch attempt with enough cover to close in, say in built up areas a flamethrower might be a weapon against a tank.

Problem is getting there without getting the attention of the crew. They might be annoyed then and different to Hollywood movies they also fight for their lives.

However PIAT, Bazooka, Panzerfaust all have longer ranges.
