Would an AMD 1200 with 500 mb RAM be considered sufficient to use as a dedicated server? -I have one sitting in the closet right now. If not, any upgrade suggestions for this machine?

You can host like up to 14+host depending on connection

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

^ how did you determine that?

i've got these parts leftover from my last upgrade.

1ghz AMD Athlon & Asus A7V mobo
512mb PC-133 SDRAM
sounblaster live
geforce4mx

will probably get a case for it, a hardrive, cheap CDROM, and upgrade the RAM to 1gig.

I use to HOST on PIII 800 with 512 of SD RAM. Was good for 16+HOST, nice and smooth - anything above was kind of pushing it.

And also i tried AMD 1.2 - i beleve it was Tbird, it was ok, but worse then PIII, 14+host was optimal..

But alot of things will depend on your connection....

ok so this is the wierd thing. Even when i have my server in the dmz zone it still times out when connecting. Should i be adding autodetectip=0 into the confs.ini to fix the problem. This is the only thing not working. FBDaemon works a treat, it's just the server keeps picking up the local ip not my external ip

Open up regular AEP and go to QMB. Setup difficulty as you would want on your server. hit Fly. Mission loads - exit. Go to Users\Doe directory in AEP and open up settings.ini file. Scroll down looking for [difficulty]. You will see two values net and single. Take the number under the net= and put it into server confs.ini file under main section...so it will look like this:

difficulty=*number that you generated*
Save confs.ini and you all done.

Ok, thanks for the help Ivan, I got it working as far as I can see. Big Grin But how does HL display the difficulty settings? It never saves my settings after I change them and when I start the game I do this with HL displaying incorrect difficulty settings as its not remembering the settings I tried to save before starting. In game the settings are fine though, but this is kind of misleading the poeple in HL. Big Grin

Save settings first so you can check mark difficulty settings again and hit start game.
HL will display them correctly if you launch that way. Wink

Times out when you connecting or other? If it`s you, you have to use internal IP And join VIA IP not HL. But there is a way around it - Hunter knows how, i`ll ask.

I think I copied that folder, cant say for sure as I´m not at the place where my server is now. Will check monday, but I think I´ll have to try Bogey´s suggestion. Smile

Thanks guys.

I am not aware of this mate - Hyperlobby tends to go down here and there - so could be just that.

i just setup a second computer, got a router hooked up etc. but i cant seem to connect to my server.

what ports need to be open on the client and server? and are there any other things i need to setup in the confs.ini file (ie. internal/external ip's).
