Hi there,
1. I would like to setup the server via Hyperlobby and ask if there is a simple guide to do so? - I presume you know how to use HL when oyu want to play online. - I presume also that you know how to enter HL and start a Dogfight mission with your PC acting as server (you start at the "OPEN MISSION 1...3" slots). - Then install HL on the PC where your dedicated server is installed. Start HL and make the same steps as you do when hosting a dogfight with your normal PC There is one small trick though: Dedicated Server runs by starting the file il2server.exe Make a copy of the il2server.exe and rename it to il2fb.exe Then link this file to Hypeerlobby. 2. When trying Hyperlobby it will not recognise my exe install (C:\PFighters\il2fb.exe) Now I am confused, is this your dedicated server directory or the PC with which you play il2fb? Make sure you have selected the correct game at HL (that is the "IL2 Forgotten Battles" game !) 3. Am I able to set the dedi server to remain up and listed on Hyperlobby or do I need to pull it down after use? you can set up the Ded.Server and it will remain listed all the time. 4. Does anyone have a good co-op I can add to the server for two sides for 15 to 20 players per side? Sorry there, I do not have anything good (with english text...) 5. Can the server be set to cycle through missions? Yes Really appreciate any help and look forward to watching for assistance, many thank in advance Kind Regards Gavin Austeam - ATR 46[/QUOTE] 335th GR Dedicated Server Stats Originally posted by Brain32: Well I know that on Spitfires with auto rads, "Engine overheat" message means only "Radiator: Opened" sit back and relax at full throthle forever |

Thank you so very much Manos1,
I'll see how I go through the day and play a tad more. Yes I use HL as a client to join other servers however have never hosted or tried the dedi side.
I renamed il2server.exe to il2fb.exe I didn't make a copy, I'll try that. I have tried to point HL to il2fb.exe in the past attempts but no joy, the full path for the install is E:/PFighters/il2fb.exe Will try again only this time rename current exe back to original name and then copy and name as suggested. Thanks again Manos1 appreciate your time. |

All sorted with HL now - Thanks again.
Open dedi server is up for testing (will close down tonight as I ahve other server needs) so if anyone wants to jump in a test go for it Now all I need is to cycle and sort out coop. |

Hi,
Updating IL21946 dedicated server Java installation ? I don't think this is possible. Updating XP pro Java installation was done to SE 6 update 3 already. Thanks any way |

Its a joke to be honest, zero support is to be found for the dedicated software.
Thats if you are lucky enough to find the download for it !! (an uncorrupted one that is ). |

I have just rebuilt my system and have just installed all patches up to 4.08. for dedi server. I removed the old il2fb.exe and renamed the new il2server.exe to il2fb. Now when i start up through HL the version is 4.071. It has been yonks since i set this up the first time and I have forgotten most of it. How can I get to 4.08.

Well, you can try reapplying the 4.08 patch, as it looks like maybe that didn't go well. There should not be an il2fb.exe in a dedicated server install, but only an il2server.exe and an il2server_new.exe. You need only to rename the il2server.exe to il2fb.exe to run it on HL. It's possible you may have deleted the file you needed to keep. |

Bugger. I wish I had that link before.
Spent the last 2 days downloading all those patches. Anyways. I got it running. After hours of cursing i remembered the exe. files. My next problem is il2 Server Commander. I dont think it is picking up the exe. I copied the Game Path over to Settings in Server Commander. go to map list and nothing is there. Also when i get to the end of the Settings choices I get the error. "confs.ini not found" . My OS is Vista64 Ultimate. I have installed the Dedicated Server in "Program Files" and the Server Commander in C: |

I think having the server installed in Program Files under Vista is problematic. You need to be able to edit the ini files, and Vista will be reluctant to allow that. I suggest you move your dedicated server folder, en masse, to C:, like you've done with Server Commander, and edit the path here to reflect that.
The problem you report is almost always due to incorrect path entered here. Check and make sure you have it right. I've suggested you move the DS out of Program files and to the root of C:\. Also check to find out if you are supposed to use \ (backslash) here and not / (foreslash). I use fbdaemon, and it requires the / for path statements. Also make sure the IP address of the server is correct. The IP should be the IP address of the computer the server is running on. I'm not that familiar with Server Commander, but I assume the port number here is for the console, which should match the number you put in the confs.ini file for console, which it does. If you start the server and enter: socket udp into the command window, the server will return the address of the socket it has created. If the server is behind a router, it will be a private address.
Ignore the conf.ini files. They are not required for the dedicated server. You only need to edit the confs.ini file.
Here again, make sure this is the correct IP address of the server. Everything else looks fine. Give that a whirl and see what happens. |

Ok. I have a problem which baffles me...I'm sure there is a simple solution but I sure can't figure it out.
I have the server set up on it's own machine, plus Hyperlobby. I start up the server with no problem. I start up HL on the server machine and again, no problem. BUT, my game does not show up in HL. I go to the gaming machine and join the server via IP with no problem. So, what is my problem here. Why isn't my game, which is a stock game in the net/dogfight folder not appearing in HL? Thanks. |
||||
|
You have to use Hyperlobby to start the server, the same way you would host a game through Hyperlobby.
First of all, you will need to rename the dedicated server executable from il2server.exe to il2fb.exe, as this is the only filename that Hyperlobby will look for. Then create a new Hyperlobby account just for the server. When Hyperlobby asks for the path to the game, point it to the dedicated server il2fb.exe. Then, without the server running, when logged onto Hyperlobby under the new account, click the first slot in an empty Open Mission area. Fill in your desired difficulty settings, etc., in the popup window, and click "Save Settings". Then click the little blue button. Now, if you are like me, all the difficulty settings you just made will be undone, and you'll have to set them again, then click on "Start Game". That's it. Hyperlobby will minimize itself, and the server will start up and load whatever mission is specified in the server.cmd file. |

Thanks. Your explanation is much clearer than what is said on page 1 in this thread. I'll give it a try.

thx for the help m8
Moved the file to C: and changed IP= to 21000 Its up and running. Problem now is it is kickn alot, even myself. "connection to the server has been lost" Also, the server commander manage monitor doesnt seem to be refreshing. It is showning players connected way after they have left |
||||
|
Hmmm, well, as I say, I've used fbdaemon and not server commander, but they are similar in many respects. There are two port numbers we are dealing with: 1. Port 21000 is the one the server uses to accept connections from players. That is the default port, and in your confs.ini, you have it set by this line: localPort=21000 2. Another port is used by the server console, and this is the one that Server Commander uses to communicate with the server. It must be different than the port 21000 that the server uses for player connections. Originally, you had this set to 20000 in both your IL2SC config: Port=20000 and in the confs.ini: [Console] IP=20000 Try making sure those two lines are something other than 21000. Personally, I like to use 2000 for the console port. It doesn't matter, as long as it is the same in both config files. Not sure if that's the problem, but likely candidate. |
