sorry for disrupting thread but why does my post count not change anymore??

No idea why your post count doesn't update, mine does.
Right to get this quiz sorted out and running properly again, the next question should be from Trinity_Jay as he answered Woke_Up_Dead's question correctly before things went out of sequence.
If Trinity doesn't come back with a question, I will throw the floor open.

What was the plane project, championed in 1942 by Walter Stander, which was planned to have filled the gap caused by the discontinuation of the Me 210?
How's that?

Afraid not, although the 410 was the logical step.

was it the Me310?? this was abandoned I think?
| |
No. This only made the mock-up stage, but came back to life towards the very end of the war - once again as a mock up. As a clue, the plane incorporated much of the exisiting Me 210 fuselage.

Messerschmitt Me 329?
| |
Nearly, but not quite. You're barking up the right tree.

Me 265?
| |
Bingo, Dance, bingo!
Yes, it was the Messerschmitt Me 265. It’s production was stopped in autumn 1942 when the it had been established that the improved Me 210, the Me 410, was able to be manufactured more quickly. The Me 265 was also named as the Lippisch P10.
It came back to life in late ’44 as the Me 329 with a full model mock-up before hostilities ended.

Thanks TJ.
Which was the first Luftwaffe fighter unit to arrive in the MTO and where was it initially based?
| |

JG 27, initially based in Ptolemais?
| |

No sorry Jure, this was just before the Luftwaffe got to N.Africa, although I also have information that the unit I'm after was the first to go to N.Africa too.
| |

Clue: They flew twin engined aircraft.
| |

Last clue then before I give the answer. They were a Zerstörer unit flying Bf-110s.

It's a tough one for me...ZG 76?
| |

No sorry again Jure, I think I'd better give the answer. It was ZG 26, who were initially transferred to Palermo, Sicily at the beginning of January 1941.
I also then found out that..... "On 31 January, III./ZG 26 became the first Luftwaffe unit to go to North Africa. Under Major Karl Kaschka, the unit transferred to Castel Benito, Sirte, and Arco Philaenorum."
The floor is open..
