"At times" How many times?

Also depends on how the geographic borders of the estuary are defined as well.

Still, if I wanted to pump up their flagging morale I would claim that I was going to pick them up no matter what.

Those cunning Germans, sneaking into the Thames

Maybe they let the German rescue pick them.

There was an incident where British let certain medical transports of opposing side go.

It reminds me of a story of German ace that got pressed to fly a medevac type sea plane and the Spitfires had shot down one and were getting heat for that.

So the ace was flying and two beaufighters interceped the medic sea plane and ordered it to land at sea in this certain spot. So the Germans complied and the a sub popped out and a inflatable boat of Royal Marines cruised over and found the sea plane was actually transporting sick people and let them go.

I forgot the source but its somewhere at this site:

Spot on, the Thames estuary is a very large and wide estuary, it's not as though they were landing by Tower Bridge!

Nevertheless, it still shows the courage of the air-sea rescue pilots that they were willing to land so close to the shore!

Pilots on both sides were regarded as invaluable 'sources' of information, and everything possible was done to either capture or rescue them.

Hats off to those brave sea-rescue personel on both sides. Cool

Wink They should perhaps have taken the Germans prisoners of war.
