The missing screenshots in the above post with the mention that we, as users, will have control over some of those sliders on the left bow:

"Never have I seen so beautiful an airplane. A rich, dappled blue, from a dark, threatening thunderstorm to a light sky blue. The cowling is a brilliant, gleaming yellow. Beautiful, and Death on the wing. A Focke-Wulf 190." -Robert Johnson-

This is simply stunning. I mentioned earlier in this thread that you will be able to see the change in the prop pitch as well.

Judging by the text in the Stuka screenshots, the engine damage model is quite complex...

I sure hope that that level of information is NOT passed on to the pilot/player during the game. There is NO WAY that as pilot you should be privy to that level of accurate detailed information. The pilot/player should be in the fog of war.

Other than that. No complaints.

I'd be surprised if it was - looks more like debugging info to me.

Hope so. The level of information that is currently passed to the player in IL-2 is too much. (Oleg has a bad track record on this issue.) I am particularly thinking about the damage done to the enemy aircraft. There should be NO information about the damage you have done to an enemy plane (other than smoke/fuel leak/bits falling off etc.) NO text!

I can't quite make out what Oleg had to say about this on the 1C forum, but it should be dead simple to make the level of on-screen info customisable.

High Dynamic Range, it's the lighting effect that simulates the way the eye adjusts the rest of the scene to a bright light source. Imagine yourself in a tunnel and you are just emerging and the sun is setting in front of you, when you first start to emerge the rest of the scene around you may seem washed out and the sun very bright, but as you pass out into the sun the scene around you becomes lit up by the sun as opposed to washed out by the bright source initially. This effect in games is HDR.

HDR means High Dynamic Range. Basically HDR is a very realistic way of representing the brightness of objects when light hits them at certain angles, like the canopy glass reflecting the suns light back in your face and you are partially blinded from it.
The older and less effective way to do this was Bloom Lighting.

Edit...Sorry Urufu_Shinjiro

I even scrolled down to see if this question was answered and I didn't see your entry.

Another thing I was thinking about is when Oleg said that pausing the sim currently stops the propellers. I kind of like this idea, I mean pausing the sim is like freezing time. I would rather enjoy looking at the sim in paused mode, time frozen, and seeing the props and even the bullets, if you can find them, frozen in time.
I wouldn't mind seeing an option to choose how "paused" the sim really is.

Generally in photographs though, the propeller does not appear stationary, but blurred. It would be nice to have it as an option though.

Yippeee!! A 109!!!!

now that's grounds for yabba dabba doo!

Awesome. Gotta love handing us the details and updates!

Sky pix are really cool, looks photographic.

Lawnmowers? I think patching craters and riding bikes takes more of a priority than fine tuning the grounds.

Guiness . . . yum!

If operation sealion would have commenced, the Germans would have to contend with bicycle troops lol.

I like the blue messages. In RL, pilots would tell exactly what's damage by asking their buddies to take a look, plus you can tell by just moving things or looking at gauges etc . . .

Il-2's didn't have the capacity to do that, but maybe BOB SOW does. Still though I like the blue text in game for nostalgia.

This is a game after all.

FINALLY Oleg is using 'Specular maps'! I hope we can customize them too Smile That would be nice.

You know what would be cool?

To have wave sounds from the water, and maybe hear some seagulls. Smile
