Ok, here goes. First Battle of Britain 2 Wings of movie, which I find quite difficult to create after being so used to the IL2 cameras.
I have to hold my hands up to being slightly lazy with this, as I could have spent another couple of weeks on a sound edit ( may still, but lets get some feedback first!), but went with an upbeat Hans Zimmer soundtrack. The video is 800x444 widescreen format and you will need the Xvid Codec to view it, which can be downloaded here: http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ The movie is based on one of the Interception missions found in the Instant Action menu where 501 Squadron take on Fighters and Bombers over Southampton docks. What I really enjoyed was the enemy AI which actually played a very tactical game and I found I had to use all my skill and the Track IR 6-DoF to keep situational awareness on the bandits. I am also quite happy with the guncamera footage in the credits. Interested to see if this movie is as well received as the IL2 ones, cheers (and thanks for the advice guys), MP. The film (95mb) can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/?a3jtnggkgt9 Let me know what you think, cheers, MP. BTW, the quality is the best I can get while keeping it under 100mb, so forgive slight softness in some shots. It was either that or a 288mb file! Just in-case the Mediafire version is having a bit of a turn, I've uploaded the .zip to my webspace. I don't know how fast it'll download, but it's a second option. Here's the link: http://web.bethere.co.uk/neilpugh/Interception.zip (Right-click and 'Save as') Rapidshare link too: http://rapidshare.com/files/78296803/Interception.zip Here's a Youtube link for those of you who don't mind low image quality! http://youtube.com/watch?v=8lPmkkBFT8M This message has been edited. WOW!!!!!
Abhsolutely incredible Mysticpuma. You have a very special gift for filmmaking. Even with BoB2's much more limited replay/video system compared to IL2's this is really impressive work. The best BoB2 video I've ever seen by far. I often play the game with classical music in the background (music from Gladiator and Braveheart actually) and it adds alot to the immersion. |

Thanks MP, I loved it. You have a special talent.

Excellent film. I especially like the gun cam at the end of the movie. Is that an ingame feature or something you did in making your film?
I've stayed away from the sim because I didn't really care for the past Rowan efforts. I may have to take the dive. From your film's appearance, Oleg's BoB will really need to step it up over IL2 to keep pace. All of the inflight action made it seem very dynamic and realistic. Laugh more often and love harder. Your life will seem easier. |

You never disappoint. Another GREAT film. Since I don't have BoB II, I really enjoyed seeing what this looks like through your expertise.

Hi and thanks for the feedback guys.
Rjel, to be honest I was really impressed with the AI in BoB, it really made me work for the position (as you can see). I mean these planes are turning into your direction to take away the shot, they don't see you sneaking in from low six, like they do in IL2, the particle effects are brilliant and with 6 DoF you can follow them when they dip behind the cockpit....my favourite bit (not in the video) was pressing the O button to open the canopy, and then you can actually lean out and look around...I mean...Wow! I loved the challenge of flying in this Sim..it felt (as you can see) challenging and made me feel totally immersed! Lastly, the gun Camera. The Gun camera frame and old film effects are all post production, Also I don't think there was colour Guncam footage in the 1940's and so I could have gone B+W, but though, nah! What is very impressive is the In-game gun camera feature. In the setup screen you can have it so that when you play a mission the whole track is recorded (like IL2), but unlike IL2, you can set it so that it only records when you depress the gun trigger. This means that when you play it back, the replay shows you the footage all as a gun camera POV and only the 3-4 seconds either side of when you were firing the guns. Very clever and very cool! Glad you liked it, I will definately be having another go and see if I can crack the free-roaming camera that is included in the game...but it's tricky! Cheers, MP. |

I among many others look forward to the sequel |

Very wellmade, a movie to keep and a yardstick for other budding sim moviemakers. It's also well worth noting BoBII is more difficult to play around with and set up than IL2 Sturmovik, which means extra credit for the end result. It would be interesting to also publish (preferably in the movie credits somewhere as it would save a fair amount of posting them all over the show) the specs of the machine your'e doing all this on (I suspect at least more than a handful of memory, considering you are using Fraps and therefore system resources).

Nice, I enjoyed the guncam section at the end most of all.

Very, very nice! As always! Also liked the guncam shots very much but the best was how well the music and the film went together. Thanks MP and BTW: Never think about quitting your "job" again - please!

Excellent work! You do BOBwov real justice with this. You could`ve added 3 times the extra bombers in the beginning for a really epic feel, but very, very nice. Good music combo too.
You ought to to get Scott at Shockwave to see it, I think he`d be impressed. |

Scott saw the movie today and his exact comment was, "OMG, This is the best visual representation of BOBII that I have ever seen. It is BRILLIANT" Buddye Intel Core2 Extreme processor QX6700(2.66GHz,1066FSB) 8MB cache, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM @667MHz, 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, Sound Blaster X-Fi PCI Sound Card, Direct X 9.0C, XP SP2 , CH Fighter Stick & Pedals ,TrackIR4 Pro thanks to BobII crew. |

Awesome! I enjoy that sim when I can. You've done a lot to show the great elements there and it shows.
I appreciated your use of blur at strategic moments- it seemed to enhance that illusion of speed. Cheers Triad -------------------------- |
