Hello All

I’ve recently been looking into some updates on the forums after member feedback. Since then I have seen a great deal more discussion dotted around the place on the same/ similar topic so would like to request feedback from you all now while the issue is already open and being looked into.

So the question is……..

What if any updates/ alterations you feel are needed on the forums i.e. forum titles, layouts etc??

Bear in mind any suggestions should be with the aim of easing use of the forums and not just because you think a pink background would look pretty against that 1940’s sexbomb

(and in case of confusion no I wasn’t suggesting a change of background or graphics lol)


NOTE: I am posting this across ALL Maddox forums and as such anticipate a wide span of opinion on the subject. Please post your thoughts and opinions and respect those posted by others, I do not want to see a war break out on the subject, IF that happens I will simply lock the thread and forget the idea altogether

Finally please remember any comments and requests posted in this thread are not guaranteed. I will be taking ALL feedback seriously and where any suitable suggestions are found these will be passed back for consideration. I cannot promise anything!

Just to clarify the recent suggestion to merge the GD & PF forums has been discussed with management and will NOT be happening. Sorry if this invitation to discuss changes caused any confusion over this.

The major forum change requests that pop up here from time to time usually involve someone wanting the Pacific Fighters forum merged into the GD forum.

I thought, based on this reply from you that that issue had been settled:
"Re: Merging the forums... Having discussed this and taking into consideration the forums activity not just there but here also the decision has been made not to merge the 2."

Since suggestions are solicited here are mine.

1. Leave the poor PF forum alone, PF is sold as a standalone game and some people use it as such, no need for them to search through the GD rubble for information on their game.

2. Change the GD forum to off topic.

3 Open an IL2 1946 forum.

If you need room for the extra forum close Olegs Ready Room, he seldom uses it.

No need for a SOW/BOB forum just yet, it is still probably 7 to ? months away and a forum for it would quickly fill to overflowing with whatever.

Forum Pictures screens need to represent the forum.

Be kept upto date.
Tec forums need to be visited by the te department from time to time, this needs to be vicible.

Yes sorry for any confusion that one is as per my post not going to happen. Ive amended my opening post to clarify

So is there any point in suggestions?
I would like to see a Storm of War forum here,as at least that would signify a tie in between ubi and 1C for SoW/BoB.
If we do get a SoW/BoB forum,I will buy a hat and eat it.

Yes there is, we decided against the merge after considering the pro's and cons just as will be the case with anything else suggested here, as i said i cant promise anything after all someone could request we put a pink elephant banner up top and you don’t need me to tell you the answer would be no lol.

A request has already gone in for a SOW forum however, sadly new forum requests have to go through a certain process its not just a case of creating one so I wont have an answer immediately but we are on it

could we please get this web site updated and the patches avalible for download? for the new ppl these things are impossible to find. and in case anyone missed it. the PF/IL-2 website was last updated in 2005! umm like 3 years ago.

i see no changes that needs to be done.
you can remove the pacific fighter forum as there's no use of it. but its not neccecary

nothing major but on the ubi.com forums page most other forums have the name of the game in front of the subsection e.g. far cry general discussion, whereas il2 does not e.g. community help - this has led to the odd lost soul wandering in from time to time asking questions relating to other games. in the past we have been polite and helpful and directed them to the proper forum but it might just help someone in the future if il2 was added

OK, my proposals are these:

1) Leave the "General Discussion" as an OT or better "slightly OT" forum. The name still fits, so let it be.

2) Change the "Pacific Fighters" to "Il-2/Forgotten Battles/Pacific Fighters/1946 series", to discuss ONLY on topic game matters there.

3) Change the "Oleg's Ready Room" to "Oleg: In Memoriam Room" where we can post homages to the missing man and share memories of happier times with him. You can also change it to "Oleg, pleeeeease", since that's the way 90% of threads titles used to start there. If not, you can also reconvert it to "My-ride-is-porked Room", where obnoxious guys can bring their charts and boring anecdotes to illustrate how his/her favorite simulated plane performance does not match the real one.

(Note: '3' is a joke. Well, half a joke. )

Everyone has an OT except for IL2, UBIs biggest forum.

I agree with Dux, especially about Oleg's Ready Room.

No pink elephant banner? That's it...if anybody wants me I'll be hanging out in the CFS3 forums...harumph...

Personally, I favor Señor Corvans' solution. I hop back and forth between the GD and PF forums and very rarely do I see topics that are mutually exclusive. I only ask that we don't lose any posts. If nothing else save the ones that reference the SBD.

Out of curiosity, Ms. Kleaneasy, in your original discussion with the powers that be, what were the pros and cons of merging the forums? I'm thinking that if we knew what the landlord's concerns were we might be able to come up with a mutually compatible solution.

I'm guessing it has to do with marketing, it appears thier still on the shelves, every where! Thats how I ended up with my coaster.
