Was it not a FW200 Condor that was shot down by a B24? I seem to remember an "IL2" mission wereby you could replicate the scenario? The only real plane I have ever flown in.(Pah! Booked for Florida next year. So this will change.) That's the one. I wonder who decided to attack who in this scenario. Sorry I didn't make it clearer, coturnix, but I was pretty sure that a six-engine flying boat will be "bigger" than any other possible answer, by any definition.

Thanks W_U_D, not privy to the particulars on that one. Ok, this guy isn't having a case of nerves and throwing-up, he is a ventral gunner, in what aircraft?

In a B-25B?

No sorry, I can see your reasoning but not a B-25.

Looks American. B-18. Jungmann "Oh, the monkeys have no tails in Zamboanga..."

Not a B-18 or a Halifax sorry. This bird is German.

Nothing unusual, very common particularly during the early years of the war.

Nope, that probably leaves one in contention by my reckoning.

In that case, I'll take "What is a Ju 88?' for a dollar, Alex.
|

|

|
We don't have a winner sorry, the Ju-88 was produced in far larger numbers and a lot further into the war than the aircraft I'm after.

A-20?
Good hunting, Sillius_Sodus

It might be the ventral turret of a Ju86 before it is lowered.

Sorry Sillius and Robtek but Jure has it It's a Dornier Do-17. Pretty cramped in there, the gunner would have to get out of the way on a bomb run as folded up to his left is the bomb aimers seat.

Thanks Dance Ok, a quickie, ID the aircraft:

Is it a Mitsubishi G3M2?

+1 Ah a plane dearly missed in IL2!
