Getting same thing here...on single player none-the-less. System cooks along fine on high settings with a 7900 GTX. Frequently...when heavy gunfire errupts, the game pauses. When it catches up I am dead. Settings have been moved all over the board with no luck. Latest drivers for the 7900. It actually seems to happen a bit less with everything cranked up. As is...it makes it nearly unplayable in CQB settings.

You may be connecting to high ping servers!
With Vegas 2, few servers show ping so there is no way of knowing what your ping is.

If you could connect to a server that you know and it close to you, it should run better.

Vegas and Vegas 2 both have poor netcode, so I try to connect to servers with ping under 100.

Also, dedicated servers usually run better than listen servers.

The answer to this issue lies in the KellerWeaponsConfig.ini file. Take a look at it (open it up in notepad). Everything you see there, every setting you see, is executed for every weapon every time a weapon is used, and its executed on your computer. Not just for your weapon, but for everyones weapon - your AI team, your MP team, the AI enemy, the opposing MP human team. Every time a weapon is used, everyone of those things are replicated to every player on the server (both human and AI), or just to yours during single play and the AI. Its done even if a weapon is not used in the game. And thats the reason for what you see as lag when weapons are fired - the game is so busy replicating all that stuff that it can't take care of the rest of the game at the moment.

In single play your actually playing on a server believe it or not, the game invokes server and net code for single play. Your not logged in (unless you logged in first) and can play single play but your still playing on a server set up for your single play and everything for the weapons in the .ini file is replicated continually to your team AI and the bad guy AI. The fact that your playing on a server in single play does indeed introduce a certain amount of lag also as your computer maintains the server and your play.

And that boys and girls is collectively called poor coding.
