It's the same story apparently but I got this game through steam about a week ago...went online once without a problem, didn't even play a single game because all I did was customize a character, turned off the game and the next day I got this famous error message. I have been searching and searching among these topics and I was wondering if there is any current fixes out for this error. I have reinstalled/defraged/verified cache via steam/changed compatibility to xpSP2/given admin rights/changed languages/and put the game files in the exception list of my firewall...now I am out of ideas...later i am going to try the port forwarding thing and cross my fingers.

Is there anything else I should try assuming that the port forwarding thing fails?

You shouldn't have to forward ports to play .. only to host.

You might try bypassing your router to see if that is the problem.
If you still can't connect, then at least you have eliminated that link.

Then start checking anti-virus and other programs that may be blocking the connection to your game.

Also, make sure the Ubisoft server isn't down.
That happens quite often.

Many gamers have uninstalled, reinstalled, and even formatted their hard drives, only to learn that Ubisoft's master server was down all was for naught!!!

Is there a way to find out if its the servers? Are you able to log on right now, cause I still can't?

Hey ShckrSpcl,
Well, I quit playing Vegas 2 many months ago due to the many problems and lack of support from Ubisoft.

But, I found my disk, fired up the game, and was able to login with no problem.

There are 7 versus servers running with 2 players on Squadgamers HC1 server.
All other servers are empty.

I checked T-Hunt and there are 29 games running.
I won't call them servers because Ubisoft didn't provide support for T-Hunt in their SADS, and T-Hunt games are very laggy unless you are on top of the host, and then it still leaves a lot to be desired.

It is approximately 7:30 PM ET (Florida, USA)

Sorry!!
You have another problem somewhere!

Give COD WaW a try.
There are always 3000-4000 servers and the game plays great!
I have never had 1 problem logging in, and players can join my dedicated server when I host, and I have no problem joining other servers.

I am hoping one day Ubisoft will get the message generated in this forum and actually listen to their gaming base.

well before I did any other changes to my settings, when I got home from work I simply connected my pc straight to my modem and bypassed the router completely and it worked...yay!

I play CoD on my 360...the only real reason i got this was cause two of my friends play terrorist hunt and I wanted to join them with a $10 game...I am just glad it works now and I can play with them...I will post on thursday whether or not I still have proper connectivity or not. Thanks for the help.

Yep .. bypassing your router was in my first post.

Do you have DSL or Cable?

If you have cable, the problem now is .. by bypassing your router, you no longer have hardware firewall, so you are open to attack.

If you have DSL, your modem likely has a built in router so should still be protected.
(Most of them do)

If you have cable, I would try to find out what router settings are preventing you from connecting to Vegas 2.
And .. I would only bypass your router while playing and then re-connect again.

Just my take on it!

Glad you got it working! Smile

I did a DMZ with my Router and I still get the same problem. I even have all the ports open as well.
I come to the conclusion that it is the master server for the area Im in. any one having this problem could you say what country and city state you live in?

I get the same msg as all u however i tried the language change and that worked 1nce 2nite. Then I couldn't get on a server because it wouldn't load me on to 1. So I tried to reboot the game and when i did wham the stupid failure ect ect msg came again.

Honestly I can sit here and rant on and on about how poor ubisoft is treating us but I'm not all I'm gunna say is this...

I have been playing Tom Clancy games since Rogue Spear days (the game I love the most) When MS decided to drop rogue spear and it's community that was a very poor decision as I have not played any games up until now because I felt abandoned and I'm pretty sure alot of ppl have as well. Rogue Spear was by far way better than any of the titles they got out today and it's linear system was great. Sure we had cheaters and game crashers and what-not but we loved the game so much we played through it.

So now I buy this game (R6V)and for the 1st 2 years off and on playing I had no problems so it was quite enjoyable altho I didn't like the peak to much i felt it to easy to get a kill and not die urself. However no I can't even get on to MP online after i have tried every suggestion except for the ports because of the fact I have no router.

Honestly ubi I'm very disappointed I am a Canadian living in Toronto so I expect class and a little heart. After searching through many threads I come across some threads where people own R6V2 and they have the same problem with the network service. This is an outrage and point blank I am very disappointed in ubi. I will not buy vegas 2 instead I own a ps3 and I have seen how great CoDMW2 is and guess what ubi? Until u actually start paying attention to the little guy (us) i refuse to play ur games. I'd rather play CoD1 on-line with all the cheaters because well basically I can play with no problems. So plz ubi get ur act together or u will have no fan base what so ever.

Bring back MS Rogue Spear those where the fun days

The reason Rogue Spear was so much better is the fact that it was developed and published by Red Storm!
When Ubisoft took over, everything went down the drain.

If you are looking for a modern game for the PC that plays well, give COD WaW a try (COD5).
It has a decent campaign that can be played in 4 player co-op, and unlike Vegas, it adds more Ai for every player that joins.

Lots of dedicated servers and the netcode is good.
If you setup your own server, you have lots of options including hard core. It isn't as realistic as some of the old games, but we play with relatives and friends so we can eliminate bunny hopping and keep it as realistic or arcadish as we want.

There are 23 standard maps with good graphics.
We have several players that used to play Vegas 2 and they are constantly commenting on the map detail.

It also has a Zombie co-op mode with 4 standard maps and tons of user made maps.
It is strictly arcade, but fun for getting a few friends together for some exploding headshots on a few zombies once in awhile.
Actually .. lots of zombies!!

And .. it doesn't take a killer system to run.

And still 3000-4000 servers to choose from.

BTW:
No one has every had a problem logging in or joining a server!
