Ok, this is really annoying me now.
I have already contacted technical support, but nothings helping at the moment, as i get a reply once a day. This was their last reply: Hello there, We would like to suggest that you uninstall the game and update the driver for the sound card. To do this go to www.realtekaudio.com Reinstall the game and download the patches for the game from the following location http://patches.ubi.com Now before loading the game do the following. When the game loads up hit ctr-alt-del and goto processes tab. find Rainbow Six Vegas 2.exe, highlight it and right click on it. click on affinity. if it has two processors checked (cpu 0 and cpu 1) uncheck cpu 1 (the virtual cpu) so it runs only on single (real) cpu. Kind regards, Ubisoft Technical Support I don't have the option of 'affinity', and it's still very choppy. Anybody know how to fix my framerates? |

Not without knowing your computer specs.
That problem is usually caused by a low end video card. Without knowing specs., all I can offer is to try lowering your video settings. Lower your resolution, and especially antialiasing. Set AA to "None" .. That is the hardest to run!! Just play with settings until you find something that works! |

Ok, these are my specs:
AMD 64 3700+ ATI Saphire 3870 512MB 1GB RAM Windows XP Service pack 2 And by the way, i've lowered the settings to lowest possible, and even on 640x480 it's still choppy. |

The only thing I see is that you could use another GB of memory.
I know players who's games wouldn't load Vegas 2 with 1 GB. I had them increased to 2 GB and everything was fine. The only other thing I can think of is if you have other programs running in the background. Go your system configuration utility Click on the startup tab Uncheck everything there except maybe your anti virus software. Many programs add themselves to startup when you install or even when you use them. I just checked mine and found 4 new ones I had to uncheck. If you don't know how to find system configuration, let me know or send me a PM. |

Thanks for the reply! Well i'll try and get another GB of memory, and i've tried closing everything.

Sorry to say this but I dont think its your RAM. More is always better of coursebut I doubt that is your problem.
I first ran the game and it pre-set itself to medium-high settings, it ran great and then gradually slowed down, and I have 4GB of RAM(2 x 2GB) What graphic card do you have? I am also experiencing the texture artifacting bug after around 20-30 mins of play and I dont know how to cure it (already updated graphic drivers to 177.*). Using nvidia geforce 9500GS |

volt-light posted above that he is running a ATI Saphire 3870 512MB. That should be more than sufficient. As for memory .. I have seen some systems run Vegas 2 with 1 GB, but that is really cutting it close. And, like I also mentioned, I actually know of 3 systems that had problems with 1 GB, and when they upgraded to 2, everything worked fine. Some wouldn't load, some would load but when they tried to join a game online, it would freeze. I can't be sure that is the problem .. I can only make suggestions based on past experience. It is better to try something and fail .. than to try nothing and succeed! Edited to correct error mentioned below! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lethal1940, |

Wow... Windows doesn't operate with 1mb of ram D:.
I'm guessing you ment GB not MB. |

lol I'm gussing so.
Hmm that is weird, the ATI 3870 is a pretty decent card and should run RS6: V 2 pretty well. I guess Ubi just have no idea when it comes to making games that work.. im inclined to put them into the same boat as EA... sad but true. How come I can run Bioshock at max with no issues at all with great fps but this game glitches out and runs as well as a 99 yr old lady with a zimmerframe? They both run on the UE3 engine.. so whats up? Seriously, play another UE3 based game, big difference... RAM is always an issue, 2-4GB should be pretty much the norm now but theres a number of things that can go wrong with it.. timings, speed, type, heat, errors, blah blah blah. Invest in GOOD RAM, only advice to give. Vista is also an issue |

Yep.. a typo ..or brain lapse .. thanks for pointing it out! Kind of brings me back to my good old Atari 800. The first ones had a huge 16 KB modual. I got one of the first to come out with a whopping 48 KB. (3 - 16 KB moduals) (No this isn't a typo) I was able to run an Indus disk drive, a tape drive and do a little programming. Things sure have changed .. Huh?? Hope you find a solution for you problem! I don't know if memory will correct it, but the rest of your system looks okay. At least what you listed. If you have lowered settings and shut down all programs running in the background, I have no other ideas. |

Thanks for the help guys. There's not many settings in vegas 2, just shadows and blur, but i turned them off, doesn't make ANY difference at all.
