Sorry to hear that the fix did not work for you. I was getting horrible fps until I tried this. Now the game works silky smooth, but I don't like the idea of turning off my HD audio drivers just to get the game to work. Like you I still consider it a broken game and am looking forward to a forth coming patch if one is in the works. I hope so. Hang in there man.
Come one guys lets have some patience. Yes I agree that Ubisoft should have done more quality testing before they released this bug of a game, but the game itself is fun to play and I think that Ubisoft will address the issues. It just takes times guys it isn't going to happen in a couple of days. It's only been a week or so since they released it. My biggest complaint is that developers should stop using Unreal engine 3 altogether. It's just not that stable IMO and causes more headaches than its worth. They should use the Havok engine instead. Think the FEAR series. Much more stable, very scableable with turning options on/off and it doesn't have that dumb haze that makes everything look bright and fuzzy. Anyway as the famous saying goes, "I feel your pain."
Actually the unreal engine is more scalable, yes I shop for engines literally. I haven't has any issues with any Unreal 3 engine games but the ones UBI makes. It's like they don't know what they are doing.
How is it more scaleable? There are about half dozen options in the UI to change video settings with Unreal 3: anti-alaising quality, motion blur, V-sync, shadow quality, and, oh yes, "harware skinning." The Havok engine has like a couple of dozen.
Hello my peeps. I've been thinking more about this slow down issue in SP and why that the above solution worked for me. It seems to me that people who are running X-Fi sound cards or some other EAX sound card aren't having major slow downs in SP with frame rates. This makes sense since stuttering doesn't change much even if you change video settings. I'm not going to get into the "does the game really support dual-core" issue right now. One thing at a time. So to test this theory I ordered a Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer sound card to replace my integrated audio. I'll move the sliders back up and see if this works. If it does then this means that the game's audio is only compatible with higher end HD audio processors. When I install the card I'll report back results. If it doesn't work then oh well I have better sound now.

I work on games, so I wouldn't expect you to understand. Shopping for the right engine, no doubt Unreal 3 is at the top of the list. Even in terms of normal users like yourself, the unreal mod community is 3 quarters bigger than any other game. Regardless, the engine is better. It's supported well, accessible to people all over. Trust me, after a lot of shopping for engines for a major game, this one was the best choice easily. The others didn't offer what we needed.

Well here's the thing with that multiplayer crash. It happens only when the match is WON and the stats come up. You hear that click click click click and it crashes. In single player terrorist hunt when you beat a match, this never happens. It's a multiplayer issue.
Statesmen Hero, since you are/were a gaming programer then I'll take your word for it that Unreal is a more scalable engine. I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert. I was assuming more graphics options on/off meant more scaleability. Anyway, the stuttering that I am refering to is in single player. Trust me when I say that I have tried every possible combination of video/graphic settings to try to get a consistent framerate (above 20). Right now if I stand still I get 50-60. But then when I start walking it drops down drastically to 20 or under. Turning and strafing makes things even worse and worse yet when tangos appear. The only success I've had in running the game the way it was meant to be is to turn off sound hardware acceleration in dxdiag as I wrote about above. When I do that I get notthing below 40 fps at max graphics and video res. I have SoundMax integrated HD audio on my Asus P5B Delux mobo so it seems to me that the eax.dll file isn't using that hardware efficently or correctly. THing is that when I do turn down hardware accl it makes no difference in actual sound for R6V2. Hope a patch is coming out soon or mabe new audio drivers from Asus.
For those of you that care I finally got R6V2 to run flawlessly. If you followed my previous posts in other threads I was having great difficulty running the game even though my system specs meet and exceede recommended sys reqs. I was getting 20 fps or less no matter what video settings I used. I wasn't content to have that accelerator down because it affected the audio for other games I played. So I took a shot in the dark and upgraded my integrated SoundMax HD audio to a Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card. I installed all drivers, rebooted and ran the game an lo and behold in works wonderfully now on max graphics settings and video res with fps 40 or higher at all times. For some reason the game seems to not like SoundMax HD audio (or other ones for that matter) since other people with it have experienced problems similar to me that have the same audio chipsets. So I take back everything I said about it not being a good port to PC at least for me. Card cost me $99.00 but hey I got even better sound now and I can really enjoy the game and other games even more. Hope this helps people who were have same issues as me. I know your're probably thinking you don't want to upgrade to a dedicated sound card. I hear you and realize that not everyone wants/can do that and I still believe that Ubisoft owes in to the PC gaming community to fix the sound compatibility issues that are causing the game to perform horribly. Hanng in there my peeps.
My card is better than yours and I am having issues with the sound. I think you just got lucky. That still means something is not right with this game though if others are still having problems.
Hi I tried this fix and it worked for me was getting stupid frame drops as low as 28fps while moving in game weather CF was enabled or not now done this fix get 100+ frames in CF and ultra smooth gameplay this problem had been bugging me for quite a while so a big thankyou for this fix AS Reference i am running the supremefx2 sound card that comes with the asus P5E

Glad to hear that this solution worked for you. I saw the IGN "postmortem" interview on R6V2 for the Xbox 360 and the dev was like "yep we did everything right and where really proud of ourselves." I couldn't stop laughing. I guess I needed that since I been so depressed lately trying to get this game to run properly. Now that I have SP working I'm having problems with multiplayer. It never ends when you port a game from the 360. If the devs think they did that good a job I'm highly skeptical that they are working on another patch right now. Unless of course someone else threatens them with another lawsuit like the first Vegas then they'll do a patch. They have our money and sold 2 million copies, they're done. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.

It's BEST to get it for free. Vegas 2 if you think about it isn't that great. If they had provided mod tools for Vegas 1, people could have made that game so much better. Yeah there is a *few* things about Vegas 2 that exceed the limits of modding, but the key word is few.
Statesman hero I agree with you that I am "lucky" and that there are still problems with the game. After a couple of weeks, a lot of time, a sound upgrade and a new Core 2 Duo processor (2.52 GHz) I finally got the game to work good now. I can play and host matches now and can play SP an max settings with performance at 40 fps or higher. I did experience last night the tick, tick crash after a T-hunt match. I noticed that this happends if you reload your weapon right before everyone goes back to the game lobby after a match. So I'm not going to do that anymore. For the rest of the people who are still having problems I totally understand the frustration of buying something and not getting your money's worth. All we can do is hope that Ubisoft will someday do a further patch (don't hold your breath) or the communtiy here will come up with fixes that we the users will be able to use easily.
