So I intstalled the game last night and played through a bit, before going to bed I blasted the graphics settings (I surpass all the recommended settings) so I try to play this morning and it won't work! I start it up and the intro roles, with the Ubisoft logo, etc and then theres the loading screen and then black! I sometimes get a clicking saying my mouse is over an option but then I click and nothing happens! So I reinstall the game and I keep the settings down (I've had games black out with certain settings to high), but after a while the game crashes (apparently that happens alot with this game) so I try to load it again and it won't work! I've restarted my computer, I patched it up to 1.03 and nothing happens, so I look for some help and am told to update my graphics drivers, so I do and I got the newest version, the menu loads some of the time now. But then the game crashes with "General protection fault
history" is there a fix or am I screwed?? EDIT: I reinstalled it and it doesn't even load without the patch, I'm going to try patching it. Ok I patched it and it will now load the main menu consistantly. But when I try to play a game I get a couple seconds of game, that lags SO bad I can get one action in and it MIGHT register, it took me two times to get the game menu to go up. Then theres about a minute of black then another couple seconds of game. This message has been edited. Last edited by: JakeTehSnake, |

Try another uninstall and reinstall, but this time do a complete uninstall!
Download the 1.03 patch and the map pack: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1991064316/m/7621035076 Uninstall Vegas 2. Go here and delete this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Default\My Documents\My Games\Ubisoft\R6Vegas2 But before you delete it, save this file from this folder: PlayerProfile.ini (This contains your key) Now delete this folder: D:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Yours is probably C: .. I partion my drives and games always go on D: ) Now select start .. run .. then type regedit Select: File Export Save to a safe place in case something goes wrong! Select: Edit Find Type in Ubisoft Select: Find Next Check carefully the highlighted entry to make sure it has something to do with Vegas 2 Delete Then select find next again (or press F3) Continue until all keys, etc. are deleted and it doesn't find any more. (Check carefully each time before you delete! .. You don't want to delete a file to another program) It might be good to reboot here: Now reinstall but don't run. Copy your profile back in the same folder you copied it from. (You won't have to enter your key again) Install the 1.03 patch. Install the map pack and Comcast maps. Reboot Run Vegas 2 and Pray!!! With this method you won't have to do the auto upgrade! We have had some problems with that! I have much better luck this way!! Be very careful in the registry! Good luck!! |

so do I run the autopatcher when I install it? And when the patch is done it says do you want to run it, do I click yes or no? They both seem to start the game
No!! Don't even run the game until you install the patch you downloaded. Now it will already be patched and the auto updater won't try to download! There is a link above for the patch! |
OH! I didn't see the link, so the fan pack maps download has the comcast maps?
The fun pack maps have a remake from Vegas 1 .. Calypso Casino.
There are 2 other maps that are just darkened maps that are already in Vegas 2. Here is a link to the Comcast Map! Comcast Bonus Map |

well it worked the first time, then I quit and tried to load it again and it didn't work. I did everything except get the comcast bonus map, but I doubt that map improved game stability. I'm going to wait till someone at Nvidia can help me cause its clearly a problem with my graphics card. I just don't understand why it works the first time but not the second time

The Comcast map would have nothing to do with the game not running!
What are your system specs.? I assumed with your first post that your system met requirements! Here is a link for the nvidia web site for latest drivers: nvidia drivers Here is a link to the latest Direct X from Micosoft. This is the redistributable full version. (Direct download) It will only update as needed. You might give that a shot. It fixed a problem for another gamer that posted in these forums. Direct X Redistributable Full Version |

I already tried updating my drivers. The DirectX link didn't help. I'm gonna head out tomorrow and get a new disc. Maybe that will fix the problem
The disc is only needed to verify that you have a legal copy. Once the game is loaded, you don't need the disc any longer to run the game. There is another problem somewhere! How about system specs? What video card do you run? |

I meant there might be a problem installing it. I have a GeForce 8800 GTS, the drivers are up to date
EDIT: I just got back from EB and they let me swap the PC version for a 360 version. Now I get achievements |
