Ok, So I've had r6v1 for a while now, never had a problem. 2 Months ago I uninstalled. I decided to reinstall last weak and here's my problem. Installation is fine, but when I start up the game (it goes through scanning for patches), nothing happens. I see a cd loading thing on my mouse pointer, but then it goes away and that's the end of it. NOTHING'S starting up. I tried uninstall and reinstall 4 times now, 3 times with different methods. I run it with admin, run it with compat XP SP2, I try reinstalling with only 1.05 and quitting when it tries updating (only to lead to an automatic crash (R6V1 stopped working message) before anything loads.

System Specs: AMD Phenom 2.5 GHZ Quad Core
ATI HD4670
4 Gigs of RAM
1 TB HDD
PLEASE HELP! Early Thanks!

Yes, I have r6v2 working fine, but I bought that on steam, R6V1 is bought retailed (CD)

I had the same problem, bought RB6V on Steam. And everytime I started it it opened UAC to have me allow it to start. Then it searched for updates and then went back to UAC again. And it looped like that.
At first I thought it was all that was avail, but I did actually try running the game with a NOCD "fix", just to see any difference, and lo and behold it then started up.

After that I deactivated UAC on Vista (seems like you are running Vista) and put the original file back, and now the game starts without any hassle. Though, this is the Steam version I am using. (Also have RB6V2, though that is a retail copy).

If you have not already, try and deactivate UAC and then try running the game. If that does not help I am afraid I am a bit at a loss on what to do, unless you want to try using a similar "fix" like I did, just to see if it do any difference.

NOTE: I am not telling anyone to use any sort of means to bypass any means of copy protections or rights infringement software. I am only mentioning it in the chain of testing different methods to see if your application will run at all.

I bought a copy of Vegas as well last year which worked fine until I swapped HDD for the system. Then this same problem appeared when I had only two games installed, Vegas and Unreal Tournament III. Now these two games are based on the same engine, wonder if that's any reason for these instabilities. All with Windows XP + SP 3. Later on the error somehow fixed itself and UT III stopped functioning properly. I hope Vegas 2 don't feature the same problems.

System Specs:
AMD Opteron 165 @ 3.0GHz (ran at stock, same results)
2 GB RAM
ATI HD3870 @ 900/2500 (ran at stock, same results)
120GB HDD (Initially 250 before swap)
