I had this exact same problem with Assassin's Creed after I installed it. Someone responded to my post with a link to a file to download. I downloaded it, extracted it, and put it in the game directory. Copied it over the originals. The game worked without a problem after that. I am hoping for a similar result here.
After installing this game, I click play. It tells me to insert the CD/DVD into the optical drive, but it is already inserted. Does anyone have or know of a patch for this problem? I am not 100% sure, but I believe the files I downloaded were Direct x9.0 and Direct x10.0 files to over ride the ones I already had. I will have to look into it to be certain. Anyways, a quick thanks to everyone on this site who takes the time to help the ones having problems. Greatly appreciated. I would also like to say thank you in advance to anyone who can help me with this situation and find a solution. Also greatly appreciated. |

I checked the files I downloaded to allow Assassin's Creed to work (it had the same issue).
The file were named: AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe I pasted these 2 into the game directory, over wrote the exisitng ones, haven't had a problem since. To me, its looks like a direct x9/10 issue. |

All you got was a no cd crack. I'm having the same problem, and now that i got the new update, there are no new no cd cracks to get around this stupid problem. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying the game in the first place.

This has been posted before.
If you have SATA DVD drives, that could be the problem. The copy protection Ubisoft is using, prevents some SATA's from reading the disk. I have one system with 2 SATA's and 1 IDE. Neither SATA will read the disk, but the IDE will. If you have an old IDE laying around .. give it a try. |

This is ridiculous. My game suddenly started having this problem without me changing my harddrive. So thats surprising. What isn't surprising is that a publishers anti piracy software is ****ing over the legitimate players again.

The issue isn't related to SATA hard drives. It is a SATA DVD drive issue. Some SATA DVD drives will read the disk, but others won't. I haven't used virtual drives in years, but some have posted here that if you have virtual drives installed, they can also cause this problem. |

If I get game launch errors/problems closing virtual drives is one of the things I do to try and fix it, however this time the anti piracy software seems to be so good at screwing my legitimate copy over that didn't work.

No it is not, my IDE DVD-RW will NOT read the disk when i try to play the game, but it installed just fine |

Sorry fifthgear!
That's what worked for me. I would suggest trying another drive if you have one laying around, or another computer to pull one out of. Also, make sure the disk isn't scratched or dirty. Maybe someone else here has a another solution that has worked for them?? |

When i looked at the driver its using, it has SCSI in the description....my guess is that is whats causing it to get denied by the copy protection.......awesome..............

I'd post a link to the NOCD but I'd probably be banned for it

There are other issues here with digital versions not running and Ubisoft won't fix any problems.
If your game is legal, do a search .. you have the right to be able to play it! |

In the United States, it is LEGAL to own a no-DVD patch for a game as long as you own the game.
So here it is. http www game copy world (dot) com (no spaces in between Game Copy and World) -+-+_ |
