What I don't understand is why do I go to play on the ranked matches, find a game, then get harassed, teased, then booted?

It happens to all newbie's mate; even happened to me as a 1; im an 11 now.

Anyways, I'd recommend you to just ignore them; there meaning no harm & they know your most likely just starting the game. Try finding a game with low rated people around your rank of 1 & play with them. You'll increase in rank rather quickly until you get up to 6; then you'll have to work a bit to keep progressing in rank.
