I just read all the third person posts. This is gonna piss you GR fans OFF!
Many say... you wont find a copy in my house if there is third person, and boo hoo im not buying it if there is a 3rd person blah blah. did you know that yes, you might not buy it. but you ammount to such a small number compared to the many that will buy it alone just cause its not another first person. please dont get upset at me, it's the numbers... and numbers is what ubi wants. adding 3rd person... they will attact so many new players those and the numbers they will get. |

you can not immerse a player into the game, into the war in a third person view. it just does not work. using the camera to see around walls or corners is wrong for a war simulator. GR is not meant to be an arcade game. Thats why it has such a following because the way the game is set up now it immerses people into the game and occasionally if ai get sniped it causes me to jump just from the shock that i was not expecting. Being a 3ps will lose the reality feeling and ruin it for the community which called for a gr2 game.
i know bulettooth has stated alot of this third person stuff is rumor and we have nothing to worry about. But i have to wonder why any company would take a game like gr with such a following and decide to flip the gamestyle 180 degrees. No company would be that stupid and for the great titles ubisoft is putting out i have to agree that they wouldn't make this bad of a mistake. Also for every 1 kid that comes here and says yeah third person view, there are 100's of peoplewho say nay, do not do that. Do you think a company is that dumb to throw away tens of thousands in loyal fans to pick up 100 measly 3rd person fans. 1 doesn't justify the rest. |

What makes u think that there are more takers fot the 3rd person view than the 1st person view ? U have talked about numbers and I elaborate on that point.
The number of buyers will drop significantly if the view is changed. Look at the history of supersuccessful shooters and they are 90% FPS. e.g Ghost Recon, Rogue Spear, Half Life, Medal of Honour, Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, Far Cry, SOF, Nolf, Unreal etc. Hence it is proved that the numbers can be notched up by FPS. It increases sales and FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF SALES, 1st person is the only answer as far as shooters are concerned. If I were to make a shooter purely from a business point of view I would definately go for a FPS. What makes u think that the diehard fans do not contribute to a significant part of their sale ? The GR community IS REALLY BIG. |
