I have stated before on the forum of Rainbow Six Legacy (console).... I was suggesting that the storyline for the latest game, would be the kidnapping and rescue of Rainbow founder John Clark and/or the current Rainbow Six, Ding Chavez.... alerting current Rainbow Five, male/female Bishop (who will again, be first player controller, as in Vegas 2); the current team of Logan Keller, Jung Park and Michael Walters; as well as the entire Rainbow Headquarters. This would also reactivate some of its retired members such as former Rainbow Five, Alistair Stanley and other retired operatives as, Eddie Price, Renee Raymond, Louis Loiselle, Dieter Weber, Ayana Yacoby, Annika Lofquist, Jamal Murad, Pak-Suo Won, Roger Mc Allen, even former Rainbow chopper pilot, USMC Brig. Gen. Dan Malloy, and any member that had connections with their former Rainbow commander, that will have special participating roles in the game. Of course, male/female Bishop springs into action personally leading the rescue. Sharon Judd, who was severely wounded in Vegas 2, has fully recovered and was just promoted as Chief Intel Officer for Rainbow, where she carries out her duties at Hereford. Hearing the news of the kidnapping, Bishop assigns her as acting commander to watch over operations in Hereford, as well as, exchanging and relaying information to the group and through on-site intel officer, Joanna Torres.

Another storyline, that was suggested by forum participants, would be a similar plot, but with the additional hostages of Clark's and Chavez's family... or with former Rainbow key members like, Bill Tawney, David Peled, Tim Noonan or Paul Bellows. How does Team Rainbow get infiltrated? Probably, a leak from the inside that knows Rainbow Headquarters all too well... like someone who used to be very close, knows the operations too well and would be giving out information to a formidable arch rival. Yet, the team would be participating in counter terrorist operations starting from the U.S., North, Central and South America, Europe, South Africa, the Mid-East and ending in a Southeast Asian country that has Al-Qaeda connections... The Philippines...

Upon the team's arrival in Manila, they are met by the country's defense secretary as well as the armed forces chief-of-staff, from whom, they shockingly learn who the culprit is and also find out who was responsible for the leak. The ultimate nemesis would be the revelation of long time acquaintances... Drs. John & Carol Brightling and Bill Hendrickson, whom were left stranded and presumed dead on the raid of the Horizon Corporation headquarters in the jungles of Brazil (from the ending of the original novel)... But they were "lucky" to have survived and managed to hitch up connections with known terrorists groups around the world, which is the reason why the team has been chasing a string of terrorist activities around the globe. For Team Rainbow, the terrorist actions also became clues and they manage to put the pieces together to understand the Brightlings/Hendrickson cause. There would be only one motive... Revenge! The inside leak would be... former command staff member, Kevin Sweeney. But why did he turn traitor? I'll let the other minds decide on that and let be revealed at the end.

The team is immediately briefed of the latest intel reports of the presence of Brightling/Hendrickson making connections with a terrorist group in the Southern part of the country, mostly made up of the religious Moslem populace. The group is known to be... the Al-Qaeda related, Abu-Sayaaf, who were responsible for the kidnapping of American missionaries during the early years of the new millenium. The Philippine military knows too well of the Abu-Sayaaf, insisting that it is "A Philippine problem" and chooses to solve this situation alone. The Philippine government has been very strict on foreign intervention in their own country and knows the protocol of Team Rainbow would only respond if a head government would ask the multi-national counter terrorist team to come in and resolve a national crisis. But Team Rainbow, with its own persistence, strikes a deal and proposes a joint operation. After all, it's only John Clark and Ding Chavez (maybe other key ex-Rainbow command staff), who were the ones that made Team Rainbow an existence against international terrorism. Plus, the team does had previous experience against the Brightlings and Hendrickson before.

Examining several options, the Philippine defense secretary and the armed forces chief-of staff have no choice but to give in to the foreign visitors... but with only one condition... Assigning to Team Rainbow, a well recommended experienced Phil. Army officer, 1st Lt. Katrina "Trina" Aquino (a name just chosen out of the blue as of this writing), who is part of the country's army elite force... The Scout Rangers, (this special forces group, has experience in mountainous and jungle warfare against the Abu-Sayaaf). Team Rainbow only wanted Aquino to guide them through, but Aquino said "either I get some of my guys to come along... or no joint operation at all...". She had her own team that were all experienced marksmen, as well as experts in recon and demolitions. Team Rainbow has no choice but to go along.

The ending.... of course, is after careful planning, Team Rainbow and the Scout Rangers have secretly and successfully penetrated the group's tightly secured perimeter, and find the Brightlings/Hendrickson planning with the Abu-Sayaaf the next wave of attacks. They begin to surround their secret jungle hide out with planned out vantage points. The team also manages to spot Clark and Chavez(and/or group of ex-Rainbows/Clark's family, if the other storyline is used), in which they prioritize to free and help them get to a secured place before chaos occurs. Suddenly, Kevin Sweeney, realizing the grave mistake and betrayal he did to his former team, signals them that all is clear and helps out in freeing the hostages discreetly. Suspicious at first, Bishop and Sweeney exchange stares. But the stare given by Sweeney proves to be that he becomes a team player to the group that he used to be with. As the hostages were being quietly escorted out, a member of the terrorists spots them and yells out. Sweeney quickly draws his firearm and neutralizes one of the terrorist guards. At a moments notice, Bishop orders out,... "Team.... You are weapons free!!!" Lt. Aquino orders the same for her Scout Rangers and a fullscale firefight begins, that involves the Abu-Sayaaf vs. Team Rainbow and The Scout Rangers.

The aftermath concludes, of course, with heavy casualties from both sides, with the Brightlings/Hendrickson, key members of the Abu-Sayaaf and, unfortunately... some of the known famous members of Team Rainbow are killed during the rescue, but the rescue to save Clark and Chavez(and/or family, etc.) becomes a triumphant success. Team Rainbow and the Scout Rangers survey the destruction and find Sweeney severely wounded. Clark and Chavez rush to Sweeney's side trying to comfort their wounded comrade. With several struggling words, a final apology is given to Clark and Chavez before giving his last breathe and dies.

John Clark, Ding Chavez and especially, male/female Bishop admire the gallantry of Lt. Aquino and her un-orthodox Scout Rangers. She and her squad are offered positions to Rainbow Team. After a long silence looking at her squad, she and her team shyly accepts, and Team Rainbow and the Scout Rangers erupt with applause.

On the team's departure... the Armed forces of the Philippines, give them full military honors, as well as respects to their fallen comrades. Despite the operation now exposed to the world, it has been agreed between the Philippine government and Rainbow that it would be kept under top secrecy, and all that can be provided to the international media is that the joint operation is... "a Black Mission".

The world is at peace again ... until duty calls once more...

FHM1502 and headshot41.... I really appreciate your feed back here, it is you, the fans, who are the ones keeping Rainbow Team a reality in your hearts.

Despite the critics and bad rap that say this suggested storyline is dead, I guess their true loyalty has been LOST. Even though that this team is fiction, then long live to those in stirring the minds and giving ideas, like Mr. Tom Clancy and these other Ubisoft story writers, in believing of defending the world's freedom and democracy, as well as to those... who are actually there at the frontlines today.... May they all safely come home very soon....

I like some of those ideas, but you can't kidnap John Clark!! Have you ever read Without Remorse? He is just to bad to ever be nabbed.

That's the problem. Most of the "new" "Rainbow Six" fans haven't read the books, especially Rainbow Six, and I'd bet that most of the newer devs on the team have never read it either.

Yeah, most people (not on here) don't even realize that "Rainbow six" is John Clark himself.

Not anymore. With Critical Hour, it was transferred to Ding. That's the way it is in Vegas 1/2.

The funny part is that CH only came out on Xbox, and was never even made 360 compatible, so it got a Ph in fail...

I appreciate your response.... Yes, Critical Hour was the only hint I had when John Clark was turning over the title of Rainbow Six to Ding Chavez. I was pretty bummed that it was not compatible to any other console system, but Xbox. It might have been a missing link between the last story to the Vegas games. Nevertheless, it was a revisit of the old missions/games that were on PC and the original Playstation. Still, I would have like to play with with the new engine and graphics it had to offer, since I took a peek at what it looked like on a walkthrough of the game on Youtube.

I know it may seem like a spoiler storyline that I have exposed here, but who knows if they make a little different from what I have just laid out. Maybe a different ending? Besides, I thought it would make a very good anniversary edition.

After doing a little research of Critical Hour, another possibility has come to mind for another Rainbow Six game...

We know that Critical Hour is the retirement of John Clark, but what is the game made out of? It is just a revisitation of scenarios of the past games.... but... what is the reason for his retirement? We also have a gen gap that has been well mentioned of the identity of Rainbow Six and how Ding Chavez got the title.
I don't know if Ubisoft would agree because they want to retire the John Clark story, but still, a line of questions remain for some old and new fans of the franchise. Even I ask..."Why???"

Well, Mr. Crespo, since you are a fan of the old squad... then... here's an idea for another new storyline.... a final set of missions for the original group of Team Rainbow using the same game engine and graphics from the Vegas series. The timeline would take place between the stories of "Lockdown" and "Critical Hour".... A title??? What about... "Rainbow Six: The Final Duty"...

This storyline would at least answer the questions leading to Clark's retirement, which can be mentioned either in the beginning or at the end of the game.

There you go... but I still don't want to let go of my suggested Anniversary Edition of "Rainbow Six: Searching... John Clark".

Rainbow Six: Ultimatum sounds the best, even though it also sounds corny.

No, really, your storyline proposal is pretty good. May I also suggest that you throw in some philosophical twist into the mix?

Assassin's Creed (a Ubisoft game, surprisingly) did a good job of mixing action-gameplay with philosophy. In the end, the good guy had to sacrifice his own ethics in order to stop evil. Maybe Rainbow will do that -- say, halfway into the game -- some baddie terrorists try to kill John Clark's wife and son, but you can only save one of them. Or, the only way to save both of them is to sacrifice the lives of innocents, or let a nearby-related building blow up... etc, and so forth.

  • Even for a flop on pc i got to admit that the vision of the artist(s) for Vegas is beyond speech. What i am seeing in game now is by far the best i have seen in any other game for realism. (coding) was the problem.
  • For a community that had potential to help YOU(UBI) they are the ones lurking in the shadows waiting for something better and you refuse to help. Even yourself.? This I don't understand.
  • Release some tools to the pc community for an over all better RaInbow 6 division.
