Great idea.
One thing I should point out if it has not been pointed out already. If you are going around a right hand corner, you should switch the gun to a left hand stance. It's the way that operators are trained to cut a right corner, and I think it would fit well into this game as well.

this is a great arguement, where anitpersonel wins, but i'm not so sure i'd want a more tactical cover leaner, because i don't want to come up to a corner, and then all of the sudden bam, shots from a scope and barrel, because of this tactical manaeuver.
if anything, i think that the old school dynamics of vegas one, where you had a fairly gifted view of the map, say on streets, second story, should be replaced with the more snug and less fake view of your battlefield, where the gun dynamics are old school, and don't fire as crazy as the do for the "Realistic" mode for tdm. anyways, i think it should be up to the level designers to have less cover options, with less opportunities for easy, blind kills, but conversly take into consideration the realistic option of a fully functioning video snake, which can peak corners and under doors, so spmething should be done to show a study in the anti tactics of quick video reconasaince, or if anything a little food for thought.

If it was on your hip you would see more of the top of the gun and not the side. So yeah it is a run and gun game but if you want more challenge turn on high stakes, that will take care of all the issues i've seen.
1. show me even 1 photo of a real operator putting his back to the wall like they do in Jerry Bruckheimer films. you cant. why? because its an incredibly stupid posture to have from a tactical standpoint. doing a 180 degree ballet pirouette like in the vegas games will get you killed in a combat situation. real operators stack by facing the direction of the enemy 2. "the reason R6V allows you to see down the wall is so that they don't have to put in a button so you can just peek around the corner." - that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. no offense. why not have an auto-button that shoots your enemies for you while youre at it? the whole point of this thread is that the x-ray vision effect from the current 3rd person view is totally unrealistic and so far removed from the core nature of what Rainbow Six games have been about since the beginning of the franchise 3. this thread was created before Vegas 2 came out, let alone high stakes. actually i am somewhat convinced that this thread may possibly have helped "influence" the high stakes cover system alteration (but thats just my ego tripping) ---- My 3rd person cover improvement idea: click here

I hate to be cliche, but i'm for and against the cover lean. I like to have it in some situations, but more often than not i'd rather it wasn't a part of multiplayer. If it weren't that big of a deal, i'd like to see another game mode affectionantly labeled "old school team deathmatch," and this would just be all the new additions to the clancy games, but you wouldn't have the option for the cover lean. Let the masses decide, by having the ability to choose what we want, please.

That's what sunk R6 in the first place! Changing from a tactical shooter to a run-and-gun imitator.
