Hey may not be writing much more books but the name Tom Clancy is what Ubisoft has the rights to and why they are able to make games under his name and I believe will continue to keep doing so since HAWX is coming out, as well as Splinter Cell: Conviction although it's been delayed, and the new R6 and GR whenever they are announced...

As I've stated several times already but you seem to be missing it (or choosing to ignore)

There hasn’t been any announcement regarding the development/ release of a new R6, or GR for that matter.
Any website posting news claiming otherwise is working on guess work and not fact and the article you refer to did not say there will be a new R6 and GR this year, it said they thought there might be because another rumour suggested Ubisoft might announce 2 new games this year.

So as you see lots of rumours, no facts and people jumping to conclusion. By all means discuss what you think may happen but don’t post your ideas or others rumours as if they were fact, it creates a lot of unnecessary confusion.

Kleaneasy, a simple way for the rumour mill to shut down is for somebody from UBI coming in here or to make a public announcement about their intentions. If they do intend on killing these two series, just come out and say so. It's really that simple. If they are not going to kill the series then some decisions have already been made and the next games are somewhere along the development track, even if it's still in the planning/brainstorming phase. And as the customer, we feel that it is within our rights to be appraised of the decisions that have been made. Absolute secrecy is your companies own worst enemy at this point. Just look at the COD series, they've already announced that there will be a COD6 and developed by the team behind COD4, but that little bit of information has their boards buzzing about what to expect, and the majority of the buzz is positive based on the quality of their last game.

But until that happens, you will have to suffer the rumours and conjecture, and do so with a grin. Because like those commercials about cellphones and fewer dropped calls, this situation is a one way conversation, and without some sort of feedback, we are left to imagine the worst.

The devs took the saying "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!", to heart. That's why they refuse to remove any of the bugs or glitches!

And while it may be a rumor the article says they will announce the next ghost recon and rainbow six games in their respective series, not just two new games...and it obviously isn't talking about HAWX or the ever-delayed Splinter Cell: Conviction since those have already been announced...

Plus they shouldn't waste their time making another EndWar or FarCry because they were garbage...no offense...

What a fabulous statement you just made. That is probably one of the most impressive things i've read on the net in a long time. It amazes me the emotions on this board but yet Ubi seems to care/listen very little to its audience. We have some incredible ideas for the next installment of Rainbow, but instead of being used as a source of information/ideas we are simply tossed aside as Ubi knows so much more about what makes a good game appearantly.

Once again truly a great post my friend. And ms-kleaneasy you need to be careful with your responses, i'm detecting attitude that is not necessary, especially to such a loyal crowd. It's not necessary to respond to any of us that way and if you think it is all rubbish then you really don't need to respond at all. We are allowed to form our own opinions about a franchise we all love so much. Perhaps if moderating these forums is too much you should relinquish your duties.

cheerio!

bow

THANK YOU!!! See, this just makes way too much sense, so naturally, UBI isn't going to announce anything. In fact, right after COD4 was seen to be so successful, Activision announced TWO more installments in development. I'm glad though that some companies don't keep their fans in the dark though. UBI copies so much from Infinity Ward/Activision, why don't they copy this practice? It'd be one of the few good things they copied for this series...

I think it's safe to say for sure though that we will know by E3. Almost every major game is announced at E3, so that's when I'd expect to hear about this. Not that I think the current Rainbow games can compete with the ones that are showcased at E3 though...

Just my guess however.

Wow...must be a lot of new people in these forums that don't know how UBI announces new games.

I guess that is to be expected since Lockdown and Vegas tossed out the formula that worked so well for the first 3 Rainbow Six titles and instead catered to the casual run n gun gamers. This poor decision ran off many that had been on these forums for years.

Here are the rules for UBI releasing information:

1) When development is far enough along that fan input won't be able to change anything, UBI will allow an exclusive on the single player portion to a game magazine or web site that has always given UBI games high marks and not pointed out any flaws.

2) Forums will be set up with an occasional announcement that is old news compared to the exclusives UBI hands out. No questions will be answered by UBI employees.

3) Shortly after that magazine hits the shelves or web article is posted, UBI will put out a press release that won't contain much other than "going back to its roots" and praising Ubi Montreal and telling us how lucky we are that they will be taking the reigns on this exciting game because they have done so well with it in the past.

4) The same magazine or web site will be allowed an exclusive on some of the multiplayer features of the game.

5) Ubi will release videos of carefully scripted interviews that tell us why this game gives us everything the fans want and something new that nobody else does (and nobody asked for).

6) Ubi will invite about half a dozen web sites and magazines that have only given UBI favorable game reviews to see the game in person. These journalists will report more of the features of the game.

7) Ubi employees still won't reveal anything new in the forums, but will confirm the features that reviewers mentioned.

So you see...no matter what happens, these forums are only really a place to report bugs that probably won't get fixed in the hopes another forum member can help you. If you'll read the Ubi Bi-directional Communication thread, you'll see this.

UBI hasn't taken input from the community since Ravenshield/Rainbow Six 3. They pretended to once after the Lockdown fiasco by gathering a group of fans they called the "council" to get their input, only to ignore absolutely everything and come out with Vegas.

If an Ubi employee feels anything I have said above is incorrect, please let me know and I'll be glad to post quotes from forums and news articles from other web sites.

QFT!!!

I am one of those on the R6 Fan Feedback Council that was elected by fans of the game and can tell you that Ubi hasn't listened in 5 years.

Bigrex I don’t disagree with your point, the problem is you’re assuming they’re at a point where anything can be confirmed/ announced. Activision will have been working on the next COD before they announced it; they announced it when the time was right for them, thats no different than any other developer Ubisoft included.

Now I’m not saying anyone is or isn’t working on a new title, although I’ve no information to suggest at this time they are.

What I am saying is they can’t announce something when there is nothing to announce and the only reason everyone here thinks otherwise is because a game site created a new article based on a conversation/ interview, took 2+2 and came up with 5.

But believe me when there is something to announce I’ll make damn sure you all know, Remember GR & R6 are my games, I want to know just as much as you all do.

@ ilduce –that article is based on rumour and guess work, end off. There is nothing more that can be said on that. If you want to make guess’s based on an article on guess work go ahead, but don’t post it here as fact and not expect me to correct you.

Klean, I can see that you're an intelligent person, so I have a hard time believing that you are naive enough to believe that UBI doesn't have some exec at least doing market research or something, a cost-share analysis to see if the game is worthwhile. All of these could be included in the update. It could go like this "Officials are currently looking into the feasibility of future installments.". Simple as that, nothing concrete one way or the other, but it would at least let people know that someone in the company is thinking about these games as much as we are.

Just to add to this topic. Check IGN, Ubisoft just announced new Ghost Recon and Assassin's Creed game, expected before march 2010... Hopefully the announcement of the next Rainbow isn't far away, and they open up a new forum to take suggestions.

Well, despite my registration date, I'm not exactly "new." I've lurked the forums for a few years without a profile, just reading posts and checking for updates, mainly during the development of Vegas 2. I'd very rarely check when Lockdown and Critical Hour were released.

But I am new enough to only have experienced how UBI releases games just one time: the transition from Vegas 1 to Vegas 2 (I stopped visiting this site after Lockdown, and I'm sure many followed suit). And everything in your post was absolutely correct. I had the same thoughts exactly. Or at least the part about how they release new information. I heard about Vegas 1 through OXM...

I just don't understand how literally every game site on the web has new information about an upcoming Rainbow game before the official website for it does. Look at the Bungie forums, EVERY WEEK before AND after the release of a Halo game, they post updates on the front page of their website. People who frequent Bnet are usually the first to know about new Halo info.

So the fact UBI hasn't even given any new info since, what?, July? is just ridiculous. And there were how many months of being kept in the dark before that? And I have read the first few pages of the UBI to consumer bidirectional communication thread and after seeing what they did to Vegas 2, what's said in that thread doesn't surprise me at all. I still don't understand UBI's logic, but the dumb **** they do no longer surprises me.

Why would they bring out a HD version of the last game. With COD4 setting a new standard for looks and game play, they wanted to give you something to chew on so they could step there game up. I see a game with the look of SOCOM Confrontation but The Rainbow we all love. Throw in some vehicles and and more destructible environments and your going to have a winner.

With the admission that 7 franchises will have releases this year, what a previously mentioned website had to say seems to have some truth to it. That goes to show how much Ubi tells their employees, especially the ones who are supposed to interact with customers/fans/forumites. It appears that there is no communication for any Ubi employees no matter who they are. Blink

Your absolutly right-ubisoft don't seem to care about their customers any more and if they don't even have the balls to come out and at least tell us what they're doing-they are going to lose a lot of custom. Vegas 1 I loved, I loved the game itself plus the large DLC's. Vegas 2 was an enormous disappointement where UBI ignored everything what the gamers said. The fan pack was quite simply terrible and must have took them 5 minutes to put together. Im sorry to drone on but UBISOFT have got to look at themselves and see that their customer relations are getting worse each day.

And also if we can't discuss the "New" rainbow game on its official forum-what the hell is the point in it beinbg here?

@ Bigrex - Market research per say has been in the works since before Vegas 2 was released. We are always collecting community opinion and feedback, and reporting that information back and yes the results of that will be used when making decisions for any future title.

But its also for that reason no one could actually state there’s research taking place, because it is ongoing and constant so there's not really anything new to report.

The financial statement announced Ghost Recon was in development, GR is not R6 so I really don’t see how that made any previous claims of an R6 title correct or making 2+2=5 accurate Blink

There are 3 games listed above by Ubi's CEO, a 4th would be FC2. That leaves 3 more games. It isn't a stretch to think that a new R6 game is due for release this year.

The game would be great all over the world but would love to play on a snow capped mountain and also involve one or two vehicles nothing crazy but you know make it fun. Also can we plant more the 1 c4 at a time.......I would love to not be able to shoot through walls this was a noob advantage in rsv 2. Second please dont make it as easy as rsv 2 to rank up. Please allow ingame chat, not only when you are dead can you chat. I was annoyed that only near by players could hear you i want the entire room to hear man thats what the game is about a lil trash talking makes it a *** of allot fun. Bring in some new smaller maps for close quarter gaming and allow players the ability to vote on maps and quit the ranking class style of play. You should be able to find a game on the server no matter the ranks like in rsv 1. Smash

Too Happy
