Howdy folks,
I and my good friend are LONG time players of the Rainbow series from the Original all the way to Lockdown. Also, the Ghost Recon series all the way from the original to the Advanced Warfighter series. But here lies the dilemma that my friend and I have suffered with Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1and 2. I am hesitating on Vegas 2 for this reason. All the latest games above we could not connect to play together for a coop game via the internet no matter what we did. Both of us have routers but we have tried DMZ, Port addresses and even complete disconnect of the routers…still never could connect. With the Advanced Warfighter series I would start a coop game on UBI and set a password. Sometimes my buddy could see my game other times he couldn’t even find the game. When he could, he would ALWAYS drop after the weapons loadout toward the start of the game. This happened in Advanced Warfigher 1 AND 2. We schlepped it off as an issue and never returned. When Rainbox Six Vegas came out we thought we would give it one more shot. SAME thing. Could never get passed the loadout screen and would disconnect before the opening cut screen. No matter what we did, nothing would work. We tried Hamachi with no success. I even called UBI tech support and they could not provide any answers other than the Ghost Recons were not Vista compatible (we both have Vista boxes). As far as why Vegas 1 didn’t work, I’m at a loss. I also noticed that there was no way in Vegas 1 to connect directly to an IP. We had to form a game on UBI and look for it in the lobby and again, using this method could never get to the game start together. Whomever was joining would always get disconnected. Bottom line is we had such a good time with the previous versions that I hate to give up. We would like to get Vegas 2 but creating another coaster is not an option of us. We get these games just for the coop gaming value. Anyone with any ideas, fixes, suggestions or in game experiences that will give us faith that Vegas 2 will work in coop over the net would be a big help. Thanks to all the help of front. I have been able to connect with friends, (We all run XP Pro) but Ubisoft has already abandoned support for Vegas 2 and never fixed the many issues.
(They still didn't fix issues in Vegas 1) Read these forums .. especially the bi-directional communication thread. You will see how much interest Ubisoft has in it's game and customer base! It's been over a month since we have heard anything from Ubisoft! Save your money until they (#1) announce there will be something substantive or (#2) that they have ended support for Vegas 2!!! My vote goes to #2! If you can find Vegas 2 for under $10, it might be worth a try! Wait for Rogue Warrior or Ground Branch. Rogue Warrior Ground Branch |

Thanks Lethal....you shed some light on this. My experience with UBI in the past is abysmal and the Rainbow series took a nosedive when Redstorm handed it over to Ubisoft.

Have they officially abandoned support for vegas 2 already? or do you just mean it seems like they have? Not only have they not fixed problems that have existed since vegas 1, but they haven't even acknowledged that those problems even exist....ie soundloop! It is obvious with the latest patch that they are working on it though because now the soundloop occasionally goes away. Sure would be nice if they would admit the problem and stop telling people its their pc. Omegaman, if you do get this game then put your country abreviation in the prefex, then if your ping doesnt show in the list you will at least have a better chance of getting lower latency clients which results in far less soundloops. |

It has been well over a month since the "Funpack" and not one word since!! According to the managers, they have also received no word from Ubisoft .. so I guess everyone can draw their own conclusion as to whether Ubisoft has dropped support for Vegas 2. It would seem that if they were working on something, they would at least imform their paid employees?? Great idea with the country code if everyone would use it!! |
