Not trying to tick off the mods, it's a related article discussing the game. So I am not breaking any forum rules.

From what I understand if someone hacks/mods/cracks/patches an intellectual property such as Vegas 2 that file/source code legally is property of UBI Soft.

They can technically do whatever they want with it including releasing it as their own.

Sounds odd I know.

That doesn't seem odd. Makes sense. I'm not claiming any legal issues here at all (either is the article). There's no denying that Ubisoft can do pretty much whatever they want with their software.

But that doesn't make the situation any less ridiculous or hypocritical. I had come to expect more from Ubi.

They were talking about it today at Gamestop. Yeah, serious, the cashier guy was socializing with other guys (and even customers!) about what Ubisoft did.

Ubisoft is finally getting the attention they deserve!!

Still I doubt it is enough to get upper management to finally wake up and see what is becoming of their company. Until they can pledge to release complete games with few if any bugs and actually do it, the will continue to grow as laughing stocks in the gaming world.

I'd rather UBI focus on fixing this game rather than making it public that they are not at fault but got caught anyway. WHO cares if it is a crack.

I use cracks. I already installed the game from the disk, what the hell do i need the disk anymore besides a nice backup thats safely put away for future reference.

This isnt xbox where the disk is needed, this is pc, we already installed the game!!!!!

All well, 2 thumbs up for RELOADED. Like seriously!? Fix the games broken sads. And maybe release a exe for people who are legit.

Things ubisoft should do for their next game:

1. Make the disc work in SATA drives.
2. Fix the multiplayer so we can actually see a ping.
3. Fix the multiplayer so that Terrorists don't spawn behind you.
3. Fix the multiplayer so you don't have to wait 2+ minutes just to find out the server is full.
4. Get rid of speech recognition that causes ghosting.
5. Don't release cracks and call them fixes.
6. Release more than 2 patches. I don't consider 1.03 a patch.
7. And as for adding 3 NEW maps, that's a lie. 2 are just night versions and one's from the last game!
8. Actually READ threads like these.

Here is how I think the whole debacle went:
Ubisoft to D2D: what da!!! fix me this 1.03 DRM debacle asap
D2D : sure thing
D2D to UnderPaidDev: fix it now
UnderPaidDev: I told you 1.03 wasn't ready then
D2D: fix it now
UnderPaidDev: it's going to take months
D2D: fix it now or you get the boot
UnderPaidDev: are you deaf?
D2D: I don't care how, fix it now or get you get the boot
UnderPaidDev: there you go... take that nice patch
D2D to Ubisoft: Here it is...
Ubisoft: you da best

the original thread is locked, but this is funny as hell... even if the no-cd crack should be intellectual property of Ubi, I've NEVER seen a company with the balls to release a scene crack for their own product...

+100 fail points.

Possibly the employees at Ubi just didn't have the skills to do it themselves so they were forced to steal the work of others.

WOW, all I can say is WOW. Oh, and also, "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" This is proof that Ubisoft is not a legitimate company and deserves no respect from the gaming community. The conduct of their rent-a-cops (mods) all the way to the devs is proof that Ubisoft has no integrity whatsoever.

I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing. I always had the feeling the Devs are incompetent. Mostly it's said they don't get the time to do it properly etc, but this? This is just crazy. But then, which self respecting Dev who is good would want to work for a company like Ubisoft?

For a long time now Ubisoft's game are full with errors on release, some error just aren't fix at all, no mather how many patches, their games lack new ideas because they just steal them from others... All of this isn't really lack of time from higher management is it? Nope, my feeling go's to incompetence!

How can Ubisoft improve on this? They need to change a lot to attract the good devs again but like things are going now? I guess they need to loose money before they see it...

I submit that their whole marketing department, research department and upper management team are incompetent, not just the devs.

Hardly indeed. Like the Xbox version of Black Arrow, there's still that ladder on Morrocan Kesba that if you climb it, you fall out of the world and continue to fall for the rest of the match.

The other team always knew which way you were coming from, because there were only 2 ways out of the spawn and that was one of them.

They never bothered to fix that and it was a DLC map, so they couldn't even make their usual excuse "Uh, it's hard-coded onto the disc and the dev teams have, uh, moved on to other projects!"

Watch you guys fail to see is that this is the norm and not the exception anymore when you are dealing with Big Corporations.

1.- More and more you see how big companies like UBI hire employees that don't even have basic training on what they have hired to do, are hired because their father know someone higher up the food chain or, barely get paid the minimum wage so there is no incentive to excel or do more than what they are hired to do.

What they don't realize is that as soon as UBI gives them the boot, no other company with good quality control or care for the customers will hire them and they will need to continously work in this vicious cycle.

Other times, they use their own employees as guinney pigs, much like they did with Therien with all the interviews, not caring how bad that makes him look with the customers and media.
