Your talking about BSOD...what does it tell you?

Also, I don't think having 4GB of ram with XP is helping you any, if anything, it is hindering you somewhat, I am sure you may have that tweaked to accept more than 2GB but AFAIK, 3GB is the maximum XP can handle.
Are your drivers updated? Sound and video. First thing I do when this happens is to uninstall all my drivers, clean the registry and install a fresh copy of them, even if the same version as some corruption may have happened when installing the game, more so unoptimized games such as this one. ---------------- 0 ----------------- 0------------- What does it take to get a simeple answer from UBI about the PC? If you guys think the Vegas 2 forums are crowded with hate & Negative posts from the PS3 and the few 360 folks, wait until the PC game is launched... |

Hi AltairMiraged
By the way nice nametag ----------------- NOTE: First the procedure below posted it's a bit long... but it works in some cases. ok? ----------------- Now...about the BSOD. this is produced by a incompatibility of drivers between the AGEIA drivers and Nvidia. This issue is pretty known using AGEIA drivers and it's bad for the systems. ============= Recommendation "Fix" : Uninstall the whole game, deleted the profile folder located in Start/"user-name"Documents/My Games/Ubisoft/R6Vegas2 <-- here it your game profile. So pls. delete the folder Ubisoft from My Games. Once done that pls. make a search for Ubisoft and delete everything it finds. Now a new search for AGEIA , if any results pls. delete all the files found. Done this pls. REBOOT Now pls. download and run CCleaner How to use CCleaner "in this case" do this: Run the CCleaner installer. During installation process, please UNCHECK "Add CCleaner Yahoo! Toolbar". Once installed, run CCleaner and click the Windows tab. Select the following: Check everything under the Internet Explorer section. Check everything under the Windows Explorer section. Check everything under the System section. Check ONLY Old Prefetch data under the Advanced section. Then, click the Applications tab: UNCHECK everything there. Next, click the Options button, then click the Advanced button: UNCHECK : "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours". Next, click the Cleaner button, then click the Run Cleaner button (bottom right), then Exit. CAUTION: Please do NOT use the Issues button. This is a built-in registry cleaner. If you don’t know how to use it, you may cause irreparable damage to your system. After running CCcleaner pls. now, REBOOT Back on screen now pls. got to Nvidia site and download the newest driver for your Video card, save into desktop. Then pls. now download NFR and installed to clean all residues of prior drivers, as Nvidia and AGEIA left. ================ Now pls. FIRST Uninstall manually the actual driver you are using . DON'T REBOOT !! Then run NFR and clean everything the screen give you as result, pls sometimes u need to run twice NFR to clean every single bit. ok. Done this cleaning with NFR pls. NOW YES !! REBOOT Now pls. run again CCleaner once finished pls. REBOOT Once back again to screen, Now Install the new driver downloaded from Nvidia . Once installed the new driver and fix your resolution and arrange your preferences for image and performance. REBOOT. Now pls. download manually the patch for RSV2, save it into desktop. Reinstall RSV2, Don't Use the Auto patcher to update the version of the Multimedia product "game" , DENIED the service. After the wizard of Install finish, pls. close the RSV2 and Install the patch manually, once Installed pls. close screen and REBOOT. Don't Install the Map COMCAST yet pls. Now go to In game and test it pls. post results if any. We can help you more if the BSOD continues but first try this OK. Good Luck. cheerios |

I get sound bugs too, and am currently searching for a fix. In the meantime, you may want to try going on google, downloading eax.dll version 3.0.6.5 or version 3.0.6.6 and try replacing the eax.dll file in \Binaries (Vegas2 is bundled with eax.dll version 4.0, but that seems to give a lot of people problems) If that solution doesn't work for you, then you're just going to have to tough it out with the ****-sound like I am. I want a refund, too, believe me. EDIT: I do not get these sound problems when I boot into Windows Vista. Again, I do not have these sound issues in Windows Vista. This message has been edited.
