Hi Hero 5 enthusiasts,

In Tribes of the East, I'm up to the Zehir mission four called "A Flamboyant Exit". Basically you use Zehir to capture three gold mines, and after you do that, the dwarf fellow appears and attacks a demon castle automatically. However, this demon castle is too strong for him by a long way and he dies.

What can I do here?

You help much appreciated.

Yours in Hero-ness
Jason

I don't remember my strategy exactly. All I can say though is that he definitely is strong enough as he is. That's why he's prepared for you with that army and why you aren't supposed to be able to stop him before he runs in.

My advice is keep trying -new tactics- not the same one over and over and hope it just works one time. Also, make use of wulfstans spells.... He has all light magic spells if I remember correctly.

I am also having a problem with this mission. I also noticed that your magic seems to run out quickly. Does anyone have a method that worked or does anyone have recommendations on who to kill first. Please help this will be my 18th attempt to beat this mission. Thanks for any help

Guys,

I think the key is that you really need to use the Runes to have any chance of winning this battle. I tried it a few times without the Runes (just for speed purposes) and I also did an auto-combat once. But I lost each of those attempts.

Then I manually battled and used the Runes and I easily won. Basically I left all of my units where they were and defended with them (to minimize the damage they receive) until Wulfstan ran out of Mana. He's got a spell (I can't remember the name of it right now, but it cost 15 mana and does about 360 damage to every stack on the enemy). I kept casting that one. The Rune Mages can also cast a firewall (which I did against the three Succumbus stacks so they wouldn't keep shooting at me).

I then just waited it out... kept casting spells, let the catapult knock down the walls... and then went in for the kill. I sent the dragons in first and used the runes where they get 2 attacks, or they can attack every stack close to them (without retaliation). You can then also use the runes to ressurrect creatures as your stacks get low. Simple as pie!

I hope this helps!

The Wulfstan battle was the most difficult part of the entire mission! I thought it was impossible, too, until I read that some of you had beat it. Tactics were important -- I had to arrange my armies close together so that I could use my mass cleansing spell (it only works in a limited area.) You've got to get rid of the confusion spell that the enemy casts against you. I also remember using divine vengeance to eliminate whole stacks of succubus mistresses/matriarchs. YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS BATTLE WITHOUT USING THE RUNES!!! I used the invisibility rune, the regeneration rune, and the dragon rune a lot. But in the end, I won the battle by having my lava dragons use the berserking rune (?) that lets you attack multiple nearby stacks. They headed in to the left side of the castle where the arch demons were and they destroyed everything that was left. Good luck!!!

Actually it's the easiest of them all.

Let your Thranes do the dirty work, and abuse Rune of resurection (your hero needs to reactivate the Rune every second round or so).

The Thranes is so effective since they will basically hit most of the opponents units at every attack since they stand so close. They will probably spawn reinforcement, which helps your Thranes to some degree (more units = more hits).

So while you keep resurecting your Thranes, the AI will be bound the suffer damage for every hits you make. Easy win.

I had the same problem too. I tried it like 5 times but nothing worked, and I figured out that I need to give Wulfstan some of my best artifacts in the previous mission and maximaize his level. When I did it there were no problem beating the demons with him.
Propably this'll work.
(Sorry my english)

So why would I not be able to use Runes? They are all greyed out. I have tried 3 times and can't beat this guy.

gregoire, have you got the latest patch? on 3.1 I could use all the runes. Also, check that you have enough resources to cast them. Don't rush for those mines, Walk Zehir around and pick everything up. Hesha is right, building a good Wulfstan in the previous mission and equipping good artifacts (mine had the dwarven set > mass endurance and mass deflect missle for free an the beginning of combat) made a big difference. Place your thunder thanes near the gate so that all the infernals crowd around there. With the berserking rune mine made 4 of those chain lightning hits in a row with no retal Smile

btw, is anyone willing to share saved battles from this mission? Big Grin I think they were the most insane from the whole game! I'd prefer too see other's Kujin or Zehir vs Biara fights here
