When I bought Tribes of the east almost 6 months ago I was overly happy. However, there were some bugs (like the graphics bug with the storm titan) that annoyed me and I decided "let´s wait for the first patch and then have double fun playing". I have been waiting for almost 6 months now and it is beyond my understanding why there didn´t come any patch out so far. And my researches in the net even insinuate that there is no patch coming. A friend of mine - also a passionate heroes player - said it bluntly to me: the project is closed, Nival has done its job and it is over, no further patch support, because patches won´t bring money. I hope this is just an exaggerated statement of a disappointed fan..but even so, it is highly annoying. And I wonder theoretically: when I buy a game, and there is no support (and because of that I lose the pleasure of playing), why should I buy it then? Really no surprise why thousands are using illegal versions...
Your friend did not exaggerate; he told you the crude and simple truth. Anyway, who wants a patch from Nival? It would break as many things as it would fix.

They don't bring money? Well, with Nival earning itself the reputation of a firm that can't be bothered to patch its own product, thus losing potential fans for future games, I'd dispute that...
ok, but is there also an inofficial patch/mod that solves the graphics bugs? For example these highly annoying squares around the storm titan? Or did maybe nvidia publish a new driver that solves this? This would be highly interesting to me...
The major thing that still needs fixing IMO is that you often have a difficult time clicking on anthing on the game map for information. Ever click 20 times before you can get the info to stay on screen? Very annoying. Otherwise I'm not disapponted with TOTE, but a patch would show they care.
Well i find it a bit suspicious there hasn't been anything about a patch except for that remark made in January.. and it's april soon may now. Seems like Ubisoft has more profitable things to attend to.
The same thing happened with Warlords IV. There were problems that really required a patch, but Ubisoft did nothing. Finally, a member of the original design/programming team began to write his own patches, fixing the problems and working on balancing issues, etc. Warlords IV became not only playable, but an excellent game.
The lesson I take from that you certainly cannot count on Ubisoft to patch Heroes V. But hopefully a true Hero (or Heroes) might take it upon himself to do the work the game needs to make it great.
It appears that the good folks working on the TOH Mod (referenced above by PhoenixReborn06) might be at least some of the ones to perform these good deeds.
Nival Does the work, and Ubisoft tells them what to do.. or so i imagine.. But in any case, this is the ubisoft forum, and logically ubisoft should inform us about patches and such.
And do not forget Dark Messiah. Ubisoft said no more patches to fix known issue. They promised to release developer tool but when they decide to make DM for console they decide PC game buyers get no patch and do not get promised developer tool.
Ubisoft have poor customer support. It seem interest in customer lasts until they get customer money.
Since no more expansion for HOMM5 there is not interest in customer support any longer.
Apparently so.. And it doesn't seem like they are doing much for their online adventure either.. delaying it without telling and generally being very unreliable in giving out what they said they would do on a weekly basis.
Few month ago(at the end of february to be exact) one nival developer posted on russian heroes.ag.ru forum that patch is (almost) ready and was planned to be released in march. He said that patch will bring lots of bugfixes, dark messiah mission and some significant map editor improvements(see new dialog system for example http://www.eye-gem.net/images/talk5.jpg) (he said nothing about random maps generator however ) But later for unknown reasons he refused to give comments about new release date...
Well that sounds a bit odd, quite odd actually, i mean unless they fell on some large bug, it sounds like they might have decided not to do it ? Dunno.. but it has been quite around here on the ubisoft front, i mean they barely do anything with kingdoms, updating only once in a while even though they could probably get a lot of people to hang around of they actually bothered to do anything, hell they could have a lot more people in here if only they invested the effort !

IMHO; they are DONE with it; there are no patches and no support for it, they have moved on. FAIK they think the series is DEAD. What you see is what you get; until some die-hard fans figure out how to fix it themselves (kinda like some of their other games)
