I bought this game and both expansions including the Tribes of the east and I am unable to update to 3.1 ...

Now I bought the games through Steam... Do I need a special update... Every time I run the update it says I don't have the game installed.

Please help me?

Brandon, your only hope is to get a refund from Valve(steam service)

There is NO patch 3.1 for Steam or Digitally distributed copies of this game.

I kept thinking maybe they will make a version of the patch for steam.

I contacted Valve a couple of times, they said there are no plans that they know of for a Steam version of the patch and that they would give me a refund.

I got my money back, and bought a Retail version of the game.

Alot of fuss I know, but multiplayer is worth it.

Here's something I've found out about Digital Downloads. Me and my friend both bought the game online when it came out. Ubisoft doesn't host the files or sell the game directly, they re-direct you to some online retailer(they are different ones).

I got my copy from GameStop or Gamespot or something like that. The Download was a .rar file (2.67gigs). When extracted to a folder it had all the files and structure of a CD/DVD Rom. I simply burned it to a Dvd and can install it anytime I need from there. (ex. format and redo computer) It also had the updatelaucher icon and I updated to 3.1 with that. No problems

My friend was re-directed to EB Games and the file he got was a .exe (1.6gigs). When he ran the .exe file it connects to the internet and downloads the rest of the stuff needed while installing. If he reinstalls the game (for any reasons) it has to connect and download from the internet to finish the install (every time).
Also his did not have the updatelaucher icon or updatelaucher.exe file. And when he tries the patch, "Game is not Installed" error.

I dont know how it all works , but there seems to be 2 different kinds of "Digital Downloads"

Based on the sound of that, it looks like what you bought is a DVD image from Gamestop, via download service.

If that is the case, then digital buys on gamestop seem like a great offering, an actual ISO with retail version!

On the other hand your friend got what I had from steam, 1.73 GB and it was a "Digital" copy of the game.

Those "Digital" versions have different patch versions than that of normal store bought copies, and usually patches for those kinds come out later, or not at all.

ADVICE: GET A REFUND FROM D2D or STEAM, THEY WILL REFUND YOU, don't worry

Just a Note: The 'Check for Update' feature link and online AutoUpdater will, download and install the proper patch for your country's retail version. No need to choose which one it is on any other download service like web-site. The .eu patch 3.1 is, the English globally available patch. Since, the english language for all english colonies originate from the european country of Great-Britain.

I have question when ubi get new path to heroes 5 ??

i play very long time in dual 3vs3 and have same idea:

1. When i play 3vs3 and i have synitar for example i can get 1 unit to batle and use armageddon when i loos this unit i get next unit and use armagedon again and again, and again its not fair. better is when i must get my all army to battle
2. Second problem when i play galib for examle and i create fenix or mine and galib loos i get next hero and this new hero control fenix, this is not fair. Fenix is too strong when i loos galib why fenix dont die, and mine dont vanish??
3. Next problem is with balance
razzak, deleb, eruina and barbarian are too weak
vittorio, nymus, ossir and helmar are too strong
other hero balance is ok.

Duels are badly balanced ever since 1.0 and it's unlikely that will change anytime soon. The one who gets Irina and Anwen simply wins.

Apologies if this has already been answered. I stopped playing shortly after the random map generator was introduced...have random maps gotten any better?

Namely my dad and I liked HoMM3 because we could generate a random map and play against the computer. With HoMM5 all the maps seemed so cookie cutter and after about 2 months or so of turns the computer players turns would take EXTREMELY long (2~5 minutes long) that it became unberable.

Has this been fixed?

I take that as a no? 8(

So far I've yet to hear anything beyond "Talk to Valve about it" from an Ubisoft rep, and Valve's response is in that thread. Doh! ;-)

Support's been all but useless. They told me to update my chipset / sound drivers. How's that gonna put the 3.1 patch on Steam?!

Also told me the patch was Europe only and not coming to Steam. WHAT?!

Well I logged into Steam just now and low and behold the 3.1 patch for Steam copies of the game just downloaded and installed!!!!

Thank you UbiSoft/Valve and whoever else made this happen.

The multiplayer community just got a whole lot bigger.

Install HOMM5 and then Hammers of Fate, that should be all you need for them. Tribes of the East is a stand alone game itself and will probably need patching. Check version number on splash screen at start of game. If not 3.1 then run game update.

That or there is a special patch for gold version only.

My PC hang when play this Tribe.

It's not set properly for PC?

Does this patch allow you to actually pick which armies you can play / are up against in a random generated map? I can't believe 3.0 doesn't allow this
