True balance isn't everything, but when it comes down to all-important chages that would take exactly 5 minutes to impliment, you would think they found time to do it after what's almost a year! I'm talking about: - Reduce Arcane Archer defence reduction to 25 %. - Reduce Divine Vengeance damage multiplier from 1/3/4/6 to 1/1/1.5/2. - Reduce Warpath bonus from 350 points to 200 points. Little work, big impact on game! |

I really hope so. As for the patch I'm downloading now, here's hoping that Necromancer's lategame got a buff (yes, I'm looking at you undead dragons). |

That was HoMM VI which you, based on common facts such as numbers sold and expansions, estimated to be in production some time ago I think.- Many folks thought/think you are an official, and therefore said "it must be in production". MM X is more to remind Ubisoft it exists, than because I expect it As for the balance issue, then balance never has bothered me too much. I've just refrained from using those units and found ways to counter them.- But I see why others would be bothered by it. Well it seems from CelestialHeavens that some balance changes were implemented, e.g. 2 extra shots for the Zealot. Um, yeah, that'll fix things alright.

Yes, numerous hidden changes abound, some more important than others. Divine Vengeance nerf is very wellcome (damage at expert is now 4*F*(SP + 7) compared to 6*F*(SP + 10) for those who care), and a lot of creature ability trigger chances seem to have changed. Hence, Force Arrow now has double chance to trigger the displacement (!) while they "forgot" to reduce the damage reduction. On the bright side, War Path has also been nerfed (250 instead of 350) so at least that makes 2 out of 3 ... |

Ahh.. i thought that my Divine vengeance wasn't as powerful as i had hoped for during the campaign !
Oh well, hopefully more will come with the later patches Fabrice talked about.. but i am really curious.. probably as much as everybody else, what it is they will bring since there is talk of new content and important upgrades.. ----------------------------

Yes, there are some balance changes in this patch that aren't listed. And yes, there will be further patching. But don't expect one anytime soon I'd say. This game is pretty much considered done IMO and any further refinements while being most welcomed shouldn't be expected to be a priority of any sorts. I'm sure Nival/Ubisoft have moved onto other projects by now. Any attention they put to an older game will be sporadic to say the least. But I do like the fact that they're still keeping an eye on the game and not putting it into cold storage.
Personally, I'd rather they focus their attention on Heroes 6! They've fully gotten their feet wet in the Heroes franchise now and gotten tons of feedback on what the fans like/dislike about what they've done so far. Heroes 6 will be the true test of what Nival/Ubisoft can do with this game series IMO. "The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Dunno, chances are they already are working on it, i mean doing patches far from prevents them from working on a HoMM VI, besides it's been almost a year since it was released, and most developers tend to begin work on any sequels before that.. usually planning and stuff. So it might be announced any time, but i imagine it will be announced when Ubisoft and Nival think they have something ready to show.
Perhaps here at GC.. or more likely at the next Ubidays. ----------------------------

Okay, I can't recall if this was added earlier or not (this is the first time I've tried it). Apparently you don't have to have the CD/DVD in the drive now to play. I seem to recall Diablo II recently adding that feature, but I can't recall if Heroes did. Anyway, there it is.

I appreciat the efforts of those have knowledg of how to peek at code helping us find changes but perhaps some one with ability to contact Nival can get official update of all changes? Surely during playtest of patch there was some persons with change list during playtest of patch?
