Eh, Neither Dane nor you are cyborgs to my knowledge and he only recieves your experience of the music anyway. He has to form his own experience before he can be in a position to judge Shady

You don't have them Eek HERECY!!!!! *Starts pouring holy water over Dane*

There are several different complete editions though. Some for each game, some with all the games, but most can only be bought over the internet.

Yeah, osmosis through bytes. Smash I'll take it you haven't played Final Fantasy IX.

Justice, cyborgs aren't the only beings capable of osmosis. Besides, he'd just get the sound recordings in my head. Big Grin

But your sound recordings are heard the way you hear them Razz

Never played any game with the name "Final Fantasy". Just to imply that anything would be the best or last fantasy is herecy in my mind Angry

More Wapanese than anything. But Osmosis is a spell in it, that drains mana from other creatures. Smile As for why it's called Final Fantasy, it is because it was its creator's "final fantasy" IIRC. Seems 13 of them later and it's still going on...

Hi there folks!

The MainMenuTheme caught me from the very beginning. It's a version of "Dies Irae"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dies_Irae

I made a transcript of the text as it is sung in the main menu theme:

dies illa, dies irae
calamitatis et miseriæ
dies illa, dies irae
calamitatis et miseriæ
dies illa, dies irae
calamitatis et miseriæ
dies illa, dies irae
calamitatis et miseriæ

<change to high voice>

dies illa, dies irae
calamitatis et miseriæ

<break, background choir to repeat: pie jesu domine, dona eis requiem!>

dies irae, dies illa (woman)
dies irae, dies illa (man)
dies irae, dies illa (woman)

dies irae, dies illa (man and woman together)

<to be presinged by choir, repeated by man>

dies irae
dies illa

<last time man>

di-es il-la

translation (taken from wikipedia):

dies illa - this day ("dies" - "day" and "illa" feminine singular form of "ille, illa, illud")
dies irae - day of wrath
(dies) calamitatis et miseriae - (day of) calamity and misery

pie jesu domine, dona eis requiem!
Lord, all pitying, Jesus blest, grant them thine eternal rest!

I love all the music, but I voted for HommI as my favorite. The compositions are longer - for example, the Knight's Castle theme is a full blown rondo, with at least four or five different themes, and I love the Renaissance/Baroque orchestra flavor of the mixes. I also like the innocent optimism of the music, befitting a simpler, pre-succession wars time.

The music from the HOMM2 expansion runs a very close second for me. I love the German opera. Does anybody know where I can find a printout of the words, with or without a translation, for the Warlocks castle and the Barbarian castle?

The Sorceress theme is another favorite of mine, and although she sings in English, I can't quite catch every word, so I'd like to see a prinout of these lyrics also. I think she's singing "Peace to they who come, stay in peace today."

As for Heroes II, the Warlock Castle Theme is quite clear:

"Willst Du heute Dein Feuer in die Täler tragen?
"Fürchtest Du nicht? Fürchtest Du nicht? Fürchtest Du nicht des Brandstifters Strafen?"

The text is an excerpt from the opening speech of "Zarathustra" by Friedrich Nietzsche.
(see: http://www.kreudenstein-online...thustras_vorrede.htm the two
questions being sung in the theme are sentences 4 and 5 in chapter "2" in bold letters)
My translation is as follows: "Do you want to carry your fire into the valleys today?
Don't you fear? Don't you fear? Don't you fear the incendiarists'/arsonists' penalties/punishments?"

The Barbarian Castle Theme seems to be a mix of german and latin. I only get "Auf den Wegen...auf den Wegen..."
at time 0:51 until 1:02, which means "on the ways...on the ways..."

The Sorceress theme seems to be a version of "Es ist ein Mann!". German, obviously.
It's part of the opera "Das Liebesverbot" by Richard Wagner.
If you jump to time 1:41:"Es ist ein Mann! Ein Mann!" and 3:40: "Es ist ein Mann!" you can hear it quite clearly.
"Es ist ein Mann!" is normally a duet of the protagonists "Isabella" and "Luzio", so obviously it's "Isabella" singing here.
The translation is quite simple: "It is a man*!" *in the meaning of: male person.
