Hello, friends!
I've got a fall break vacation week this week, and I've decided to spend it rediscovering HOMMV. So far, I'm loving it, loving it, loving it! Before, I had played Isabel's and Agrael's campaigns, and thought that maybe it was all too easy compared to previous incarnations of HOMM. So I quickly got distracted by other games and gaming ideas and abandoned HOMM V. Now, there is a brief lull in other games I want to play, so I've started HOMMV again. And since there are no preconceived expectations now,I'm really starting to appreciate it on its own merits, and also, it's bringing back all kinds of pleasant memories of my early gaming experiences with HOMM's I-IV. I've noticed that there is an exponential difficulty increase with Myrkul's campaign, which I've now started for the first time, since that's where I left off last time. Although, I've also noticed that the devs provide this difficulty increase by introducing some kind of "ha-ha you lose" surprise to every map, be it ships full of fully developed heroes ready to strike (three of them in map #2 that start the game on the seas and gunning for you, a final hero with an artifact that lets her cast unlimited troop ressurection in map #2, or the elves ready to attack Isabel in map #3.) So, is anyone else in the community finding that this game ages VERY well compared to recent releases? I can't wait to finish the campaigns, the two expansion packs, and then to see what Celestial Heavens has to offer in user-generated maps! |

I have an exam tomorrow, so the evening before I will just fly away and go into the wonderful world of HOMM5!
Starting over on the campaigns too! |
