I just HAD to share this with the community!!! I was browsing the following German Heroes 5 website to see if the admin had uploaded the Blood Fury Skin mod yet (he hasn't) and decided to check out their mod section:

I was shocked to see a Griffin/Royal Griffin mod !! For the standard Griffin you can choose one of 3 new versions:



Personally I like the Einfarbig one the best -- it blends in with the brownish coat of the Griffin better.

Best of all though is the new Royal Griffin with NO STUPID HELMET !!! That gay helmet has always grated my nerves since I first saw it in the Demo. Why put a helmet on a beautiful Royal bird? Check it out:



The Royal Griffin is very artfully and beautifully done with a large white mane of feathers and some white feathers on the forearms as well -- gorgeous!!

If the link above doesn't work then go to the Female Dungeon Skin Topic page 2 for the German website. Scroll down on the left side to Heroes 5 then Mods. Its under the Greifen Mod section. The first 3 links are for the standard griffin and the last one, Königsgreif , is the Royal Griffin. I knew all those French and German lessons would count for something one day!!

I've applied the mods and they work great. Icons in the game have been changed too. Load up Campaign 1 Mission 5 and choose the Royal Griffins starting bonus then check them out in combat. Yeah baby!!!

Funny. I just hit the link 3 times and got a positive hit all 3 times directly to the griffin mod section.

Wow did not know that many people disliked the old imperial griffins?!
I meen the Inqusitioners, Treeants, and Gargoyls looked freakish but i have always liked the Imperial griffins.
I think the armor looks kinda nice on em, sure makes them look like they deserve to be a level 4 upgraded creature.

Who would armor such a magnificent beast?

Thats the main page. Scroll down and on the left margin find the Heroes 5 section then Mods. Look for the Greifen mod then its all cake from there -- the first 3 links are for the standard griffin and the last one, Königsgreif , is the Royal Griffin. Hope that helps.

Uhhh... not quite. I'm not going to sit here and let you bash this wonderful mod. When you start putting armor on all your units you depersonalize them and even start "mechanizing" them. Go play Command and Conquer if you want armored units, this is fantasy brother!!!

As for horses having armor thats a natural historical application -- heavy cavalry has always had armor. Since when have birds of war worn armor??!! We're crossing the lines between fantasy and reality obviously but I think you get my point.

Whatever, this is the beauty of having so many mods available: download and enjoy the ones you like and get online and make dumb comments about the ones you don't. God knows I've bashed the Death Knight mod enough by now. Peace, out.

Bah those "new" griffins are butt ugly. If you are going to mod, take the helm off the griffins but leave the claws. I would love to see the braided hair of an unhelmeted royal griffin. Besides blue hair is much nicer than the ugly colors the 3 in the picture shows, though the yellowishbrown is decent but still not as good looking as the blue now.

am i the only one that thought the griffens having a helmet was awesome? and the regular griffens look like someone pooped on their head now, no offense.

Ugh, those mods for the regular griffins are kinda arse. Sorry, but they're pretty ugly...

The Royal Griffins do look pretty nice with that big, full mane of white feathers, but I don't think it really looks the part of a higher tier creature. I kind of like the way they are normally, the armor and the braids I think is pretty neat and very deserving of such a strong, proud, higher tier soldier.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that someone took the time to do this, the more mods for a game the better IMO. I just personally don't care for the changes they made.

Same here... I actually liked the helmet... It made them look more like they're battle-worthy. A flying bird doesn't look too tough to me (except if it's on fire like a phoenix =P). Besides, the helmet makes sense in terms of the game with the Battle-Dive. Anyways, I appreciate the effort, though.
