Not being a great pc afficionado,technically that is, im stuck.

I was after a flight sim for the first time in years, and after reading on this site and the passion you people appear to have for the game i purchased lomac. Needed a stick so read up on the sites about the x52 and purchased that as well. So here i am, just in from work, boxes all ripped open and bits plugged in, software installed, bursting to go and i decide to have a nosey at the demo saved games on the disc first, and each and every time i try to load one up my pc shutsdown and restarts, windows then trys to install a "photogallery" update, during which it says it cant and asks for a disc. Just this min downloaded patch 1.02 (hoping) and nope, it hasnt helped.

And i don't have a clue about where to go from here, really don't. I'm afraid i really just don't have the experience or knowledge to even narrow down what the problem could be.

Hoping someone can help because i really want to strap an A-10 on and go tank plinking.

Version of lomac before patch was 1.00. Pc spec (if you need it?) is P4 640, 2gb ddr400 ram, 2xWD sata hdd's, 6800gt, XP home SP2.

No doubt you've had a million newbie queries guys, i'd be thankful if you could have a think and spend some time on one more.

that is very strange indeed. Your rig should have no problem running it. One thing i'm a little confused on is when you said

Are you talking about the missions on the main menu of the game that says fly now? If so, does it crash for every mission? And yes, patch it up to 1.02 since the 1.00 was a little buggy. And i have no idea where did the photogallery thing come up, i never heard about that. Are you sure it's not from any other programs? Once you get use to this game (which you should since its awesome)...get the addon called 1.1 Flaming Cliffs. Read more about it here http://www.lockon.ru/. And once that is patched to 1.11 and soon to be 1.12, that is the least bugs yet. Anyway, back to your problem, maybe its related to a graphics driver issue. Could you find out which version do you have installed. For now, that's all i can think of, get back to us and i'll see if i can help more. Btw...welcome to the forum and the world of lomac.

On the side note: be sure you installed the SST program for the X-52 since you will have to create a profile to map out your keys since its very hard to do it for this stick in the options menu.

I've run a dxdiag which i can post if you need it.

Firstly, i uninstalled the game and the photogallery update thingy is still trying to install so i guess thats unrelated so we can ignore that.

Regarding the demo saved games, when i boot the game up and the main menu comes on screen, there's grey boxes down the side, the top of which is "show" and i then go into a further menu with 6 or so demo's i can watch.

Upon reintalling the game it asks if i want to load directX 9.0b, but mine is 9.0c. Could this be causing conflict?

My graphics driver version is: 6.14.0010.7189
Driver name is: nv4_disp.dll

If you need anything else, please just ask.

I havnt even got to the game yet, but thanks for the advice regarding the sst software, i'll have a go at that when i get the game working and thanks for the welcome.

alright for now, ignore the demos and see if the regular missions work. You could create one of your own in the mission editor or just press fly now on any one of the planes on the main menu. And no, stick with 9.0c since that is the latest. And regarding your graphics driver, i believe that is quite old. If you know how, you might want to update it to the latest one.

Hey kid, updated the driver off Nvidia's site, and hey presto, it all appears to be stable.

Just got to get to grips with the stick now.
