Hello everyone, i need some help!
I have been playing lock on for about 6 months now
The only problem i have is when i change my views from cockpit to Map (F10) or other views and then back to my cockpit. My lock on game crashes back to the desktop with the "Lock on has performed an illegal function and will close down" "do you wish to send error report" ****.
I have checked my settings for graphics, put on lowest and highest and still nothing. Made sure that my Anti-Virus, MSN (which seems to screw up lock on abit) and other stuff isnt running in the background.
I have a Athlon 64 bit +3000Ghz, 1Gb Ram, 9600XT 256mb Graphics card. And this happens.
My girlfriends computer has a +2200 Athlon, 512mb ram, and a 9200SE 128mb graph card and it runs smooth on hers.
I have also looked through the forums but nothing i have matched with what is going wrong or how to correct it in this instance.
Could someone pls help me, i love playing this game but cant because of this happening all the time.

Lock on Modern Air Combat version 1.02 .... With no mods or anything.
Except for some campaigns and missions i have downloaded to play.
Upgraded from 1.0 to 1.02....

I bought lock-on on the first date it was on the shelves but I ever played it. I installed the two patches. My problem is that when i load a saved game the game will freeze and when i choose the aircraft outside view the aircraft doesn't appear. I have an Amd 1500+ 1.34 GHz 512 Mb ram Ge force 5200 Fx

I am not to sure there psaila...
But reading though the other posts. There are two main things about that one. The graphics are too high for your spec of computer, have you tried it on the low setting.
But the system specs are 800Mhz and above, 128mb graph card and all that. I have to put my graph settings just under high. Have a couple of things medium otherwise it tends to laggggggg if i am in a snow storm, drop alot of bombs etc.
The other thing i have noticed is alot of people say it is bad to apply the patches from 1.00 to 1.01 then 1.01 to 1.02.
Bad idea, They said it works better if you apply the 1.02 full patch. Straight from 1.00 to 1.02. It runs heaps better then. Uninstall it, delete the install file too, reinstall it and apply the full 1.02 patch and see how it goes.... Can no one still not help me with my problem????

I'm having the same problem as you.

I've installed Lock On and updated to v1.02, and I have that problem of the game crashing when returning to cockpit (F1) after changing between cameras and map (F10).

That problem also happened before updating (using 1.00).

I don't know what can be happening, but maybe posting my rig, and if some other people with the same problem post it too, we can find something that we have in common that may be causing that.

Pentium 4 540J (3.2Ghz, 800Mhz, 1MB) With NX activated on BIOS and on Windows "Data execution prevention".
512MB ram.
GeForce 6600 256MB PCI-E
C-Media High Definition Audio Device
Genius Joystick USB w/force feedback.
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2
And nothing running in background (at least nothing in the tray and taskbar) when playing lock on.

I still havent found out why it does that.. Lots of people seem to be having that problem. And the same here too. I turned off Avast and Kerio firewall to see if they affect it, but still does the same thing. I turned off everything that can be turned off in the task manager. Still the same..
Hopefully someone will know what is wrong and be able to tell us how to fix it..

Same here. Freezes and crashes to desktop at anytime during the game! I'm running ver. 1.02.
I've tried many things and still can't figure out what's causing this! I have the graphics options set at low.

Hi,
I have the same problem as you. The game just keep on crashing after a few minutes. sometimes I play for 5 min before it crashes, and sometimes it takes an hour...

I havent been able to find a fix for this problem of 1.02 and changing views.
It has crashed every time i tried the back view or changed from map and then back again..
The only thing that did fix it was i upgraded my version of lock on to "Flamming Cliffs". Then patched it to version 1.12a...
Now i dont have any problems at all..
That is about the only help i can give you as i never did fix that problem with 1.02

Hey now I just can't try this...

But I have had chash problemns with other games... and apparently, deactivating the soundcard hardware acceleration worked.

Someone with lock-on installed can try if this fix the issue?

Yeap! Looks like there is a huge crowd over here that has the same problem as me. And after all these months since the last post was written no one has a solution. I'm afraid that nobody really cares if this problem really is a pain in the ass. I'm trying to prepare a mission, it happens. I'm trying to finish the mission it happens again. I'll have to start Lock on several times over an hour just to get in the air.

If there is a bug fix and I haven't noticed it,
please tell me godamnit! I know this topic is a year old. But the problem will continue forever if somebody doesn't do something about it.
