It's been what, 4 years now since this title was released? I am stunned at how slow and ineffective Eagle Dynamics has been in regards to addressing an ever-growing list of bugs and game crashes. Like so many others here, my gameplay is plagued with an onslaught of visual artifacts, be it corrupt textures, funky polygons appearing out of my plane, the sky or the ground, and repeated game crashes which reboot my computer.
Never have I purchased a game that was in such an awful state, and its developers seem to be doing nothing about it. Even an encyclopedia article for this game makes it a point to note how buggy it is. I apologize for not offering more insightful information regarding my system, drivers, etc. It seems that this forum has been receiving bug complains with detailed computer/driver specs for years now, and little has been done to rectify any of them. It's great game, if only it would work as good as it plays. No more Eagle Dynamics games for me. |

Im sorry but ed are very busy working on patch 1.12, to adress some issues present in 1.11 and wont be able to take your call.
http://www.lockon.ru http://forum.lockon.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=33 I dont know why you think they are doing nothing ??? UBI are doing nothing, and neither are supporting 1.02, since the UBI-ED fracas over releasing such a buggy project (thank ubi for the mess, not ED) What the hell happened to my sig? |

this sounds like a hardware problem and not the game itself. Care to post your specs and we could help you.

Your "funky polygons" shows that your computor or its vidio card is not up to snuff. Please do not complain if your computor is lacking. Read this formun to see what it takes to run this sim. Post your specs. and we will help to point you to what is needed.

UBISoft lists the minimum system requirements for this title as follows:
# Operating System: Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP (only) # Processor: Pentium® III 800/AMD Athlon™ 700 or better # RAM: 256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended) # Video Card: 3D video card (DirectX® 8.1-compatible) w/32 MB RAM (128 MB recommended) # Sound Card: DirectX 8.1-compatible I am running this game on WinXP, Athlon XP 2700+, 1.5GB DDR333 RAM and an nVidia FX5900 (128MB). I would think that my specs greatly exceed that which UBISoft recommends, yet to get any decent frame rates I have to set all of my graphics settings in-game to low. Even then, flying through clouds or haze literally bogs down my machine. I've heard you mention that one should disregard the min. system requirements printed on the box, because they're grossly understated. However, what legitimacy does that statement hold in practice? I purchased this title at Best Buy after hearing about it from a friend. I read through the system requirements on the box, and figured this puppy should run like a dream. It's unrealistic to expect gamers to thoroughly research a game title (which has been out there since 2001) in terms of how well it performs. When someone sees an item in-store, they read what's on the box. Going back to my initial issue, it's not the frame rate that irks me, it's the constant bombardment of corrupt textures, peculiar polygons and system reboots. It's especially present in A-10 campaign mission #2. If at any point I choose to view my aircraft from the outside (F2), I notice a lot of strange vidual artifacts, then my screen goes blue, and bam system reboot. I've got all of the latest drivers for my hardware and neither my CPU nor my video card are overclocked. |

You are right about the specs on the box - gamers should be able to trust these things. If it were me in charge i'd have new boxes printed, its very bad form.
On your system - its better than mine (pentium 4 3gHz, nvidia geforce fx 5200, 512 ram - i get 15-25 fps but smooth) - I dont really know what to suggest. You should try tweaking the graphics settings - but really you shouldnt be seeing texture corruptions such as you are describing! Perhaps you are overheating? What the hell happened to my sig? |

Also, check the graphics driver. And i know the box system req are a bunch of bs, but technically speaking, you "could" run with that min req...just very very crappy. I have a lower rig than yours but I still love this game.

My nVidia GPU runs at 58 degrees celsius when playing, so it couldn't be overheating.
Another awkward thing happened. I somehow managed to finish mission #2 in the A-10 campaign, I saved the game before landing, then quit the mission. I saw mission #3 in the campaign available, but wanted to go to graphics options to change something before commencing. Once I returned to the A-10 campaign, mission #3 was no longer there, only mission #2. ??? |

Don't bother hoping to resolve my problem, I've just uninstalled this horror and discarded the box with the disc.
Worst product ever. Eagle Dynamics and UBI should be sued for releasing such a half-baked collection of second grade programming. |
||||
|
How can call it the "worst product ever" when it works fine on most other peoples systems.....as far as I can tell most people have never experienced corrupt textures the way you have leading me to believe its your PC. At least upgrade it to the 1.02 patch if you dont want to buy Flaming Cliffs.
Try rephrasing your statement as "my system, worst product ever" and then maybe try reducing all the graphics settings to the lowest possible and gradualy one by one increase them and see if it still crashes. By the way mine works fine....... "We don't want to fight but by Jingo if we do, We've got the ships, we've got the men, we've got the money too......" |

Lomac should run ok on your machine with low-medium graphics. I'd try a re-format/latest drivers/fresh install of Lomac. Then patch to 1.02 and grab the fps tweaks at the lockon files website. ---------------------------- Athlon64 3800+ Venice Asrock 939 dual SATA 2 mobo 1 gig Corsair PC 3200 XFX 7800 GT WD 40 gig 7.200 rpm hdd Antec True Blue 480W psu Samsung 940B monitor Track IR4 Saitek X-45 HOTAS |

Hi guys, I got still problems too, stripes out of my cockpit, out of my plane...now I get green hue on 1/3rd of the start up screen. Is don't get it.
The vc cpu is cooled to 37C. I love playing the game, but this is very annoying. Echo |

When I bought the game , thankfully it was on offer, I realised it was over realistic and needlessly complex to control, let alone full of bugs, especially the funny polygons and textures, these things -not 100% sure- are propably 'software environment' related because of some unkown reason the stop occuring-at least freaquently.
The very bug I couldn't figure out is the SU-25's and, rarely, the A-10's weak thrust which caused them for no apparent reason to fall and crash to the ground! For a start I thought something to do with the game configs. but after lots of tweakings and playing it was obvious after an attempts to take off with a SU-25, the **** thing at full thrust and loos brakes didn't move an Inch. Why? beats me. Could've been an excelent game but it is over-buged. Besides it is a shame that only nine aircrafts are controlable; an extra F-14 and MiG-31 would be reasonable. |

first, post your specs and also what version of lock on r u running. And sounds like you are stalling or your plane is overweight.

I hae been reading through alot of these posts about how buggie the game is and I have to say that I personally have not had most of these issues arise. I am running Lock-On an both of my pc's, Spec's: pc #1 is a 2.1ghz amd cpu on 333fbs, a gforce 4x 128 mb video card with settings on the game at med and winxp. system 2 is a 2.2ghz amd cpu 333 with everything else basically the same as the first system.
I have found through trial and error that Lock-On as well as other sims I run actually run better using the older nvidia drivers rather than the newer ones. If I install any of the newest drivers the game will either have wierd graphics issues or will just freeze up completly. Just my 2 cents worth |
||||
|
So can i install the 1.11 & 1.12 patches on Basic Lock-on or do i have to buy the expansion packs first? |
