this sounds like a hardware problem, if you can't tell us what is your computer specs, we can't really help you.

yea Lock On needs a pretty powerful rig to run it, but the main problem i see is that graphics card. I don't think that graphics card supports Lock On.

i believe the cheapest one that "will" work is a GeForce 4 Ti 4200. Anything lower is already going to have a hard time running it, plus you can't have large scale war. Maybe a couple birds in the sky. That also means playing everything on low settings. That's a fair warning i can give. So depends on you, if you want a cheap card and don't mind playing on low/medium settings, i can recommend you one.

I would like to be able to play the game to at least medium settings to get the most out of it...could you reccomend a crad that would cope with that? Cheers

I would spend maybe 40 to 50 quid. would that be enough for an average one? or are they more expensive....

40 to 50 quid...what is that conversion to american dollars? Anyway, personally i would suggest a better card, but i think this card will do just fine. However, it cost maybe around $60-80. Look for a Geforce 6600. That should give you decent fps with high/medium settings. A higher model will do better but if you are on a tight budget, then i guess it will do for now. If that's a little expensive, then go for a lower model. Keep in mind, Lock On demands a really tough pc, not only it depends on the graphics card, it also needs ram and cpu power. Your athlon 2200 is ok for now, so ill leave it at that. But maybe in the future, you might want to push up the ram to 1 gig if you have some money to spend. Take care for now.

Hi, i have decided to get a nvidia geforce 6600 256 MB. Will this work alright on my computer?

AMD Athlon2200 XP CPU
XP 2000+
1.67 GHz
64MB 3DFX video card
16 bit sound card
syntax SV266A board
80GB hard drive
512MB SDRAM

I don't know much about computers and things, does a nvidia 6600 geforce 256mb card fit any computer or are ther different models for different spec computers.

Cheers

Be careful there's two different card/mobo interfaces....you're going to need AGP, not PCI express. Hopefully, your power supply will handle the card and if not, you'll need to upgrade your PSU (power supply unit).

----------------------------
Athlon64 3800+ Venice
Asrock 939 dual SATA 2 mobo
1 gig Corsair PC 3200
XFX 7800 GT
WD 40 gig 7.200 rpm hdd
Antec True Blue 480W psu
Samsung 940B monitor
Track IR4
Saitek X-45 HOTAS

power supply is not that expensive...depends on how much power u need.

But you have to remember, you entered the world of flight sims, i can probably say its the most expensive gaming genre.

For me, its like $2000 of a comp, 100 for a joystick, 200 for a trackIR...etc. Is it worth it? Hell yes. Do i have a huge hole in my wallet...Hell yes.

Actually mate I'd say you would be better off buying a 6600GT 128MB.
Why you ask?
You see a graphics card is a little like a mini-pc inside your pc, they have a processor/core and ram. A 6600 128MB and the 6600 256MB processors, or cores, run at the same speed it's just that the 256 one has more ram which is also running at the same speed.
A 6600GT's RAM and core speeds are higher than either the 6600(128) or 6600(256). That means at 1024x768 the 6600GT gives you more bang for your pound. You can pick up a 6600GT for around £100 online, try and pick up a 600watt cheapo psu ~ £15 again online. Never shop in your local store, they have to make their money somehow i.e overpricing parts and labour.

PCI-E is PCI express interface and is pretty new. As noted above, you will likely need a AGP or basic PCI card to fit your motherboard.

What the hell happened to my sig?
