HI there, i have just got LOMAC today and when i start up all fine. When i goto options it freezes straight away. I thought it was just the options screen but i was going to start a misson and it freezed over. I have the latest patch installed, i thought that would fix the problem but it didnt.

Spec

AMD 64 3000+
1 gb Ram
128mb ATI 9600 GFX
DVD RW +/-
80 GB Hdd
Direct x9.0c

SP2, all up to date.

For some reason i cant update my GFX drivers ?

My driver is ati2dvag.dll

This is a laptop spec.

I would really like this game to work but i may have to send it back. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Hi,
I have the same exact problem! Been searching around the net to find answers but still I'm puzzled. I've seen other people have this problem too.

First I thought it was my new joystick, the saitek x52, doing this. But it continued after I removed the stick. Sometimes I can stay in options for a short while and make changes, but then boom.. it hangs. Sometimes I can Ctrl-alt-del out and close it in task manager. In task manager it says it's using 99% cpu power and lots of memory.

I've flown a few missons, but it's in the option screen it hangs.

I have amd 64 xp4000, MSI K8N Neo 2 motherboard, 1024 corsair value ram, Ati x800xt pe graphic card, sb audigy 2 sound card. All latest drivers for my hardware, including the motherboard, Running win xp sp2, direct x9c. Half life 2 and Medal of honor Pacific assault is running happily on my setup.

What can this be?

Hi there again!
A tip Uther on the saitek forum, he's also to be found on simhq's IL2/Lomac forum, gave me:

http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/bo...t=006406#000004

The tip is to put your AGP down to 4x. Most new mobo's and graphic cards have this set to 8x.

Anyway, I tried this. Now it didn't completely lock up in the option screen, just hang a bit everytime I tried to adjust or change axis/joystick controll of anykind. I have the new X52 from Saitek. Strange thing was that when I used CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut lomac down, I entered the dekstop ofcourse, but Lomac was still running, so I went back to Lomac and then it didn't hang anymore. I did this everytime it hang in the menus and I managed to change some of the importent settings like axis for the joystick throttle and removing dead zone and increasing the responsiveness of my sticks.

But having to ctrl-alt-del out wasn't good enough, so I entered device manager in windows xp and made sure that the usb controllers were not allowed to shut down to save power. I did this because it seemed Lomac hang for awhile when I tried to adjust joystick settings in the option menus. Not sure about this though. Anyway, I tried something else too. You now this DEP (Data exectution protection- supposed to prevent worm like stuff to mess up your computer) thing in winxp SP2? Some programs don't go along too well with that, or so I've read. Don't know much about it. I didn't know how to turn it all off, but I could turn it on for everything, and then choose to switch it off for specific programs, like lockon.exe and the other .exe files in the Lomac directory. So I did that. After this I've not had a lock up the last hour - pressing buttons and stuff in lomac options menu. Not sure what did it, or how long it will last. Lomac is a bit buggy it seems, and maybe it tries to allocate memory or take control in a way that DEP those not allow.

It's a great sim, don't give up. Like I said, not sure how long this will last for me.

I'm having the same problem with options screen causing the game to crash/sistem hangs. Well it's like this: I start the game, fly a mission or two with the Fast Battle planner, then decide to adjust the screen for better performance.I go to options and...the image flashes with some horizontal stripes and then the monitor goes to power saving mode. The only way to return is the reset button. However there are some occasions when the options are available and I can set everything the way I want. I will try to set my AGP to 4X to see if problem persists. Hope it will work as I think it's the only sim that gave me bumps in the stomach when i look down from my A10.Oh! My V board is a Radeon 9600PRO/128Mb VRAM.

No,setting the AGP to 4X could not solve the problem. The game still crashes at options screen(and as it did before, it does not crash all the time and as a result I had the opportunity to set the graphics once to a desired level and then play; since then I did not use options again, as it crashes almost all the time; sorry!). Oops

send it back , don't wast your time with this sim,

your gonna go thru all the forums and your gonna notice people with higher systems the yours are having problems also, send it back ,
the box system specs are totally wrong and untruthful,

if you want i good sim get falcon 4.0 Allied force, with your system you can run everything on high with no problems, and be able to fly full campaigns ,

don't waste time with Lomac, wish we could all get together and bring a law suit against publisher, not for money but so they will correct the box system setups specs.

i spent almost a year just tweaking tis sim,

with F4AF i loaded it up and was instantly in missions learning how to operate AA & AG radars
and injoying my self, instead with lomac learning computers 101

Yes, Falcon4 is the shining example of how software should be released! Big Grin

Sorry you have these problems with Lock On, but a lot of people apparently have issues with F4-AF as well. And if it hadn't been for the persistence of its fans to stay with the original Falcon4 version despite the incredible amount of bugs, then there wouldn't be any AF version today.
