Hi,
Just purchased LOMAC, updated to 1.01
Am seeing scenery strange behaviour, where the game engine appears to 'jump' the movement of the scenery. it looks like a stuttter, but my frame rates etc stay high. I get it every 2-3 seconds, regardless of plane/mission generally.
I am running moderate graphic settings, and can tell it is not FPS issue.

I posted here as I have not seen comments elsewhere.

My system:
AMD XP2500
Asus TI4800
512Mb RAM
Asus A7N8X Dlx.

I only get that in the first SU25 campaign mission. I'm still trying to figure out if an object is responsible for it, etc.

hi guys,
Thanks for your responses.
It is in the first su25 mission that I get that too, or at least it is most noticable in that mission. I was able to reduce this behaviour by setting objects/scenery to 'low'.
Hopefully they can iron this bug out over time..
pat.

This mostly seems to happen when "new" items are loaded and appear in the game i.e. when a new aircraft or ground weapons group loads into the game. When the time comes for new planes or anything else to appear in the gameplay, the sim loads the details of the item and goes into limbo for a few seconds (or more...)

It's really annoying when you're taxiing and something loads... you're rolling straight on the ground and the next thing you know, you're in the dirt and stuck. Or when you're flying in on final approach. All lined up, on finals, and the game has to load something. When it resumes, you're dead 'cause you crashed.

I get this on nearly every mission, made my self of campaign but it's mostly in the Su-25.

But still happens sometimes in any other plane.

It's really annoying and makes the sim look dodgy.

yep, I get the studder, that conesides with the HD light only with the SU25, and in it's first campaign mission. No idea what causes it.

The notorious LOMAC 'row-boat' effect

You know the one, where you fly along and the aircraft is smooth for a few seconds, and them micro-hesitates for an instant, then becomes smooth again for a few more seconds ... then hesitates again ... ad-nauseam. 

I had not seen this effect in Lock On since the demo but I saw it emerge last week on my system and discovered exactly what I had done to cause it to suddenly emerge.

I normally set my PC to use 1280x1024 res and use Lock On at 1024x768 with FA and AA maxed as high as they go on the 9800XT.

That works great, but last week I dropped my PC's resolution to 1024x768 and also left Lock On at 1024x768 ... Â… I discovered the hard way that this combination is where the 'row-boat' effect gremlin resides on my system.

(I set it that way so I could edit the Sound.cfg files--the text was too small at 1280x1024 to follow each line easily so I dropped the Windows XP to 1024x768 for ease of editing).

So I was a very surprised to find the row-boat effect distinctly present when I then tested out the edited sound pack configuration. I thought (for a day and a half Â… pulling my hair out I was!) that the sound pack had somehow caused this effect to emerge but deduction and elimination showed that this definitely was not the cause because even the standard sounds within a brand new installation did it! (%#($^%@ !!!)

I eventually discovered that it occurred ONLY when I was using BOTH Windows AND Lock On, set to 1024x768 resolution (which you really would not expect to have caused any such problems!) The video display system does not like this same shared resolution for both, at all.

I switched Windows back to 1280x1024 but left Lock On at 1024x768, as I usually do, and it all smoothed out, becoming immediately fluid and movie-like again, with no hesitations of any kind—whew! Big Grin

I wanted to share that experience with those having this same sort of irritating problem with Lock On but can't figure out why it does this on their systems. I didnÂ’t try other combinations of resolution, but itÂ’s a reasonable guess that most of this row-boat hesitation and stuttering nonsense is attributable to res conflicts that the video system does not like. (ItÂ’s not that Lock On naturally does this; it doesnÂ’t)

Give it a go.
