I must start by saying that I am sorry if I ask a question that has already been asked. Please bear with me.

I puchased Lock-On Gold about 5 or 6 months ago and had it loaded on my computer. It would work fairly well until I loaded the "Flaming Cliffs" disc. Before I loaded the "Flaming Cliffs" it would sometimes Crash to my desktop which is very aggrivating mid-mission. After loading "Flaming Cliffs" my joystick was all weird. Certain options that I had mapped to my joystick (firing current weapon and cycling through targets being the 2 major ones) did not work, nor could I re-map them. The crashing problem continued.

I uninstalled/reinstalled twice and loaded all of the patches that I could find, but nothing could help. I finally uninstalled it for good.

Now I am reading the forums and many of the posts sound like some of the issues have been worked out.

I LOVED this game when it worked correctly. I'd really love to give it another try. Can someone please tell me what I might be able to do to avaoid these issues? For your reference, below are my computer specifications.

HP Pavilion dv8000
Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP2
Intel 2.16 Ghz Dual-Core
2GB Ram
NVidia GeForce Go 7600

Just an update....

I just reloaded regular lock on (no flaming cliffs) and unfortunately the same thing occurred. I was completing the Main Menu A-10 "instant flight" and the game froze up on me and one of those "Send and Error Report ot Microsoft" popped up. The game completely shut off.

I guess I just wasn't meant to play this game.

Let us know what driver version you are using for your video card also. Before you do that though, you might want to post this thread in the General section. Not many of our long-time members look at the Bug forum, so if you post in the General forum, more people will see it and may be able to help. You should also join us all at the www.lockon.ru forums, that's where most of us are hanging out these days.

I guess I did enough digging around in these forums to find something that actually helped.

I don't know what driver that I am using, all I know if it is the most up-to-date one because I tried to update all of my drivers and they all came back as "A more recent driver cannot be located for this product" or something to that effect.

Anyways....what helped was that I turned the graphics hardware accelerator on my computer down to 2 notches below "Full". I originally went 3 notches down, but the game wouldn't even start, so I bumped it up a notch and it has work like a charm so far.
