Oh for the love of all that is holy would a moderator or some one from Ubi tell us, the paying public, what the hell is going on!!!! This is absolutely pathetic!. How long has it been now since this problem was discovered? A good 5 months at least and still nothing. It's a total joke. What kind of company r u running there at Ubicrap? All we want is a fix for this game and seeing as there are obviously many, many people with this crash issue you would think that Ubi would of pulled their fingers out by now but no. You guys can't even give us an udate on what's happening. Pathetic Ubisoft, totally pathetic. I'll be sure to hold back from buying any more of your games from now on till I know for sure they actually work.

Any status update for this problem?? The game is still sitting on my desk waiting to be played, keep in mind I purchased this game on day 1! A couple of posts above I mentioned that GTA4 was crashing as well, the developers have long since issued a patch that fixes the problem and I managed to finish that game ages ago. It's ridiculous that Ubisoft hasn't even acknowledged this issue yet.

hey Hmorrison man this game ****es me off i bought the game for 55$ so i can get it shipped to me soon as it came out.but it just loves to crash every 10 mins on dx9 and every 30-60mins on Dx10.Rig = 5200+amd,8800gts640Extreme preclocked at580core.I was anticipating the crap out of this game and i supportted them and payed for it, also i wanted to play online without having to go on a pirated server, but you can't play much without it crashing if i could take it back i would of just DLed this game for free thanks for rushing it out for christmas and then not fixing it UBI soft. O by the way assassin cread still is legendary.and yes crytek is most stable games ever made only time crisis1 and expansion ever crashed on me was when i overclocked too high on cpu or GPU causing in freaze/crash only one other game crashes as much as this and thats call of duty 5 which is ironic because 4 was perfect.LOL i didn't get GTA4 tell they had patch 3 out cause i knew it was crap (at first) i read the reviews. You think they get any more money if they fix the problem? heres my answer no and bugs take longer to fix then making the code which means they would have to look at the whole game over which means they rushed the game and it will always be fun while it last then stress full everytime you reload this crap

This seems to have worked for me so far:

1) start the game
2) alt-tab to the desktop from the menu screen
3) cntrl-alt-del to bring up the task manager
4) find the farcry2.exe process and right-click
5) select set affinity
6) deselect two processors (I have a quad core, so that leaves two checked)
7) right click farcry2.exe again and set the priority to high
8) go back into the game and give it a shot

Note: you'll have to repeat this process everytime you play since your preferences aren't saved

hope this helps...

edit: I did this using XP

I am having the same problem I believe. I have been posting about it here:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...561055997#4561055997

I have tried the most recent posts suggestion and it did not work as you can see in my most recent post in my thread.

I can't believe this game is having so many problems. This game is really not that old.

Ubisoft really needs to release a patch. Come on Ubisoft!

almost certainly already mentioned but always ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your video card, and check compatibility of your card. Is your processor up to speed for game? The one thing that causes my game to crash, and the only thing, is when windows runs off to do an update. There is a module from www.iobit.com called game booster which tells any interfering program to do one until game is terminated.

wow seems like you have to go thru hell and high water just to play the game.
there's the "incompatible optical drive" issue
also there's the third party installation issue's
the "ASUS GamerOSD" issue, but that's been fixed.
the "multi cpu core" issue,
and if none of those get you, the dx10 memory leak issue surly will. Seems like alot to have to contend with.

A memory leak issue is also kind of a big problem, because it's going to universally effect all customers running on dx10. It also seems like kind of a big fault to ignore for so long (over a year now), i mean it's rather like selling a car with only two wheels, it will drive, but it's never going to drive to it's full potential.
