Hi,

Far Cry 2 keeps crashing to the desktop after about an hour of gameplay with no error message given. I don't think it's a problem with my hardware, as all the other games I own don't do this. So far, I've found the game very fun to play, but the crashes are just ruining my gameplay experience. Any help in this issue would be very welcome.

I also have one other gripe: the lack of toggle sighting. Holding down the right mouse button means that the weight of my hand is distributed unevenly over the mouse and it screws up my aim. Most other shooters offer an option to use either hold-down-sights or toggled sights and Far Cry 2 would benefit from having this option too.

Are you running an pre-overclocked video card? Recent ubisoft games, such as Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 2, suffer from bad incompatability with pre-overclocked video cards. Try underclocking your video card and bumping up the fan speed.

Also, post your DXDIAG report so we can fully help you.

I am running a 4870x2, not overclocked, with the latest drivers. It's not an overheating problem, I've got the fan speed way up at 60%.
There is a lot of information in the DXDIAG report, can you tell me what you need specifically?

This is a common problem. Ubisoft has yet to fix or even acknowledge it.

There's a memory leak somewhere in the DX10 rendering engine, and it crashes once it reaches 60% RAM usage (no matter how much RAM you have).It's fixed if you switch to DX9, but your framerate will drop quite drastically in DX9 as it's not as optimized as DX10 is.

ur a snipe aren't u morison. you wouldn't have a problem with hold aim, unless ur a skill-less sniper.

Hold-aim is a problem for a lot of people, and it screws up aiming for a lot of very skilled gamers that I know. If you, like I, had played hundreds of first person shooters that used toggle aiming, then you'd also have the same problem. It's not a question of being "skill-less" or not.

And no, I'm not a sniper, I use whatever weapon.

This occurs for me also, though its only after about 15-30mins of playtime and I do not run DX10.

Could my problem be with something else?

im having the same problem using an Ati 4870 as well, although not the X2 one like you. I find it annoying after u do a mission and it crashes without saving

sibrecat, yeah it is annoying, but I quicksave quite a lot so usually I have a recent save to load after it crashes.

yes thats what Im resorting to as well. I usually switch between Nvidia and Ati cards during upgrades depending who's offering the best performance at a reasonable price. But every time i have an Ati card there is always an issue somewhere with them

Don't worry, it's not a problem with ATI, I have friends with Nvidia cards who have the same problem. I'm thinking it's a problem with the game.

I don't have CTD issues with my system. It's probably because I'm using DX9. My framerates are pretty good.

I posted here a while back, and I'm still having problems. I was just wondering if anything has been solved yet?

Nope I still have the same problem. Tha game is absolute garbage. I want my money back. The game hasnt worked from day one. There is a memory leak and my RAM usage just keeps going higher and higher until there is none left and the game freezes. Im only able to play for about 30 minutes. If I was crytek I would be ****ed that ubisoft effed there game up and is unplayable. I wish crytek just did the remake instead of ubisoft. Most of there titles have been crap on PC and run like crap.

LOL..yet another thread that I posted in and the post I made got deleted. The mods banned me because I was "double posting". Yeah, whatever. Let's be honest, I was ****ed off! and still am. The remarks I made here and everywhere else were out of anger and down right rude. Do I feel bad? hell no. Do I regret them? hell no.

Let me ask you all a question; Did you pay for this game? It don't matter how much but I payed $50.00 usd for it. Does it work for you guys? Are your questions being answered here? let me take a shot at answering this question.

No one knows why. INCLUDING UBI?! The only answer you guys are going to get is; "Please contact your technical support at 1-800-555-5555. They will be glad to assist you in resolving your issue(s)". Let's not forget people, this is not an official technical support forum. So don't look for any type of good help.

You guys can post until your fingers are bleeding and your keyboard is broke but none of the problems that this so-called game is going to get fixed. You payed for it, now you get to look at screenshots of the game.

As I stated in a different thread, I gave my $50.00 game to a local second hand store (Goodwill). I got tired of seeing junk in my house.
