I just recently set up an online account for Far Cry 2. I quit shortly after that. Now, when I try to start the game up, it won't. It gets to a black loading screen and then dissappears before I can get to the main menu (the one with options like "Story mode", "multiplayer", etc.) Can anyone help me?

UPDATE: I can play on safe mode, but when I do this I have to play with a window that's only about 1/4 the size of my screen. I can increase its size by turning up the resolution, but once I go over 1024X768 (or whatever the number are) it gets extremely laggy.

The Exact same thing happened to me. I was playing multiplayer and it crashed now i can no longer Start the game. It just goes to loading and then closes to desktop!!!

Only thing is I cant even play in Safe mode. It just loads and closes to desktop before getting to the title screen or Startup movies

I'm having the same problem. It worked fine for a few weeks (after working out some other problems). All I get now is the splash screen, and then nothing. Safe mode works but that's it. Any ideas?

Just loaded it today, updated to 1.1, played for 2 hours. Just tried to start it and it gets to a windowed black screen, small (loading) icon begins to rotate in top left, then back to the desktop. Disabled Visual schemes, running as admin, etc.

Have any of you tried poping the cd in and out and letting the autorun start? Lately the game doesn't want to start when I hit the shortcut on the desktop or the dvd. I just get an error and it closes. Give it a try if you havent and see if that makes any difference.

Yes, doesn't act any differently. On the "official" UBI site they say to disable "Visual Schemes" in the startup properties and in the settings under the "Game" menu. Neither of these solutions did anything (and I also tried XP Compatibility and it was already running as Admin). Going into Games and right clicking on FarCry 2 brings up all the run options, one of which is FarCry 2 in Safe mode. I tried it and it DID run! Went in and set all options at default and applied, quit, then started FC2 from the desktop shortcut. It RAN! Now I went and set the display to my screen res (1600x1200) and it works. Have restarted it a few times, not sure what the issue is but at least I can play. I'll be doing one change at a time from now on..... |

Update - It's back to only running under Safe mode, not sure what the difference is except I have to manually change the Display settings (resolution, refresh, etc.) and force it to Full Screen (Alt-Enter). Don't see where you can choose between Full screen and Windowed but it's shown it the Benchmarks (which runs fine).. This message has been edited. Last edited by: GaryRadoco, |

Hi everyone
If you just get a black box in vista appearing when you click on the farcry 2 icon in games i've found a fix for it. 1. go to your vista games and right click on the farcry 2 icon 2. click on "customize" 3. highlight "play(play farcry 2)" and click "edit" 4. In the "target" you will see the .exe the shortcut is looking for is "fc2launcher.exe" (ubisoft autoupdater which runs before the game) 5. replace "fc2launcher.exe" with "farcry2.exe" and then click ok This will allow you back into Far Cry 2 directly stopping it from targeting the ubisoft auto updater (note: i have the 1.01 & 1.02 patch installed from a manual download from www.gamershell.com) hope this works for you! |

This isnt possible to do on the steam version, because it doesnt intal a startup button in the windows game file. Anyone have any idea how to fix this for steam?

Re-install your graphics card drivers but do not re-start your computer once the graphics card drivers have finished installing. When you have finished playing in DX10 and using your computer put your computer into “Sleep Mode”. Otherwise If you shut down your computer you will have to re-install the graphics drivers again. |

Thats the worse solution i have ever heard lol. If this is what you need to do to keep your drivers working then im sorry but you have more issues sir lol. ----------------------------------- 24 Custom Maps Published [PC] - Search by map name FuRiouS Or Download them here. |

I got this game from Steam just a week ago. It worked up untill today and now it crashes on loading too. What is up? There has to be a proper fix to this problem. Well, what is it then? I've tried to disable the "Visual Schemes" and it does not help. Tried running as Admin. Does nothing. I even reinstalled the game and that didn't work. I have the latest drivers for all my hardware including Catalyst 9.3. Please just help me play the game again!

Hi guys,
I had this exact same problem, this is what worked for me: As soon as the Farcry2 splash screen appears, hit Alt Enter. It then went into full screen, I quit out and have restarted several times and it all seems to be working fine now. Good luck! |
