Whenever I try to start up the CryEngine sandbox, it always has a critical exception and crashes. The exact error message is this:

"EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Attempt to read from address 0x00000008
The memory could not be "read"

Here are my system specs:
Operating System: Windows XP Home
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3800+
Display: GeForce 6800 GT
RAM: 1GB

If it matters, my graphics card driver version is 6.14.0010.9424, which I think is the latest.

Could you post your dxdiag please? Smile

Windows XP/2000:
Click Start > Run... type in
dxdiag
click OK.
Give it a few moments to create the report (watch the loading bar to complete and disappear).
Select to Save All Information. Open the file in Notepad, select all, copy then paste the complete text into your next reply.

I'm having the exact same problem. I was looking for help here when I saw this thread. Guess I'm not the only one.

Error says:

Exception info:

Code: 0xC0000005 Address: 0x001B:0x36011687 Module: <Unknown>

Description:

EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Attempt to read from address 0x00000008
The memory could not be "read"

Call Stack Trace:

9) function=0x36011687
8) function=0x37138828
7) function=0x7C14D36E
6) function=0x7C150265

4) function=0x3700632F

Then Sanbox exits. It use to work just fine.

BTW, I contacted Ubisoft tech support on this issue.

This is their response:

"Unfortunately, Ubi Soft Technical Support can not provide information for editing the game in any way. Please refer to your LICENSE AGREEMENT for more information.

It may be possible to find answers to common modification questions on some of our fan sites, or from posting a message on the fan-lead forums at our website."

Pretty weak if you ask me. I told them that Sanbox crashes on loading. I'm not trying to edit the game. I'm trying to make a new one. Besides, Sandbox comes with the game and it's supposed to work right?

I guess this means they don't support Sanbox at all. Then they should put on the label, "Buy at your own risk because if it doesn't work, you're screwed".
