Awesome... So again... I blame vista for this because... Well I can...

My computer is brand new (3 Days old) all the newest drivers (checked and checked again) I followed the "LOOK HERE FIRST for potential PC support solutions" with no luck so here I am.

Specs:
Intel i7
ATI Radion HD 4890 1GB
6GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Prim. 64bit
Direct X 10

So I have loaded the game uninstalled reinstalled 3 times now... Still I get nothing... at all no error no "can not run" nothing at all... I click "run" it boots up updates if need be shows the "Far Cry 2" Logo not even in game just the initial one and then quits. No windows logs on this event no error reports Vista doesnt even care about this one for once... which I am sad to say is unfortunate because it might help.

I ran benchmark, Started it up set the settings to lowest possible settings clicked "launch" it did the same thing... sat there for a second... booted to the inital screen the little one... then nothing it all quits and this one says "can not run benchmark no results"

I have no clue what is wrong but I know its driving me crazy ^.^; Any help is respected thank you for your time.

think its the fact that your using 64-bit. try running fc2 in compatibility mode windows xp. to do that, go to where u installed fc2, right click the fc2 executable and click properties, go to comaptibility and make it compatible for win xp servoce pack 2. hope i helped

you are not alone with this problem my friend, i've not been able to play far cry 2 because of this problem and i have had the game for several months. ubisoft will not get off their fat money grabbing arses and do anything about it though. I have tried absolutly every single solution people have suggested and i still get the same problem, i personally thing it's something to do with the .exe file of the game. bad coding maybe?

Try turning down your desktop resolution temporarily. Some experimenting in the past has led me to believe that screen resolution has a lot to do with the 'disappearing act'. Id go with 1024x768 to start with, or even 800x600.

In a nutshell, I ran several resolutions on my desktop and several of them would make the gme do exactly as you are describing. It seems that in game resolutions and desktop resolutions do not always get along. A widescreen resolution in game and a std res on desktop seem to be the most finicky. One combo I found to work on my laptop is 1280x720 desktop res with 800x600 in-game res. (so low because i was running the laptop to a 42" HDTV heh) I tried many combinations and more 'mainstream' resolutions did better than the off-the-wall ones, like 1164x776 or whatever (example) 640x480, 800x600 1024x768, 1280x720 and 1920x1080 were the best ones for me. This will most likely vary from monitor to monitor so the best way is to start low and work your way up.

alt+enter will switch you from fullsreen to windowed and vice versa.

Also try running as administrator, though I dont think it will help this one. (always a possibility tho)

The only way I can run it is to disable the sound completely. Frown

But if I do, I can max out the gfx settings but only play it in silence.

Otherwise it crashes with a BSOD at the end of loading, restarting the PC.

Specs:
Intel E8500
Geforce 8800GTS
Trust soundcard (CMedia CMI8738 chipset)

You are going to need a new sound card. That card is OEM and most likely not meeting game requirements. You should be able to find one that will work for about 35 or 40 US $, maybe less by now.

euden, no one can help you until you post your complete configuration, including sound card.

Most of these problems are due to insufficient hardware. We need to know what you have in your PC including what operating system you are using.

We also need more than 'it wont run'. Where does it crash, what does it load first if anytthing at all.

3 GB ram
asus eah4890 1GB DDR5
