I installed the new patch, but now the frequent crashes are worse and more frequent then before!
I have installed newest nvidia drivers recently. These are the only changes to my systemsetup. Crashes occur now within the space of 30 minutes, most of the time sooner. PC will likely freeze and show me a (blank) desktop. Reboot after crash gives me bad graphics, only resolved by un- and reinstalling nvidia drivers. I uninstalled and reinstalled farcry2 just to be sure the installation is correct. But last weekend was too much: after a crash and forced reboot my bios couldn't find my HDD anymore! No system drive found, press ctrl-alt-delete was all I could get from her. After a powerdown for 10 minutes or so, everything is fine again. I've doublechecked everything, checked all drivers and their integrity. I have no problems in any game whatsoever, except in Farcry 2. I have now uninstalled it and will only reinstall it after a patch comes out which resolves the crashing. Although they are less frequent and less severe when playing unpatched, I feel farcry2 is instable enough to really do damage to my pc, which no game is worth it. A shame of 50 euro's. |

What are your PCs’ rigs?
Did you check system requirements? |

You're kidding, right? Let's pretend i'm not a 12-year old whining kid whose pirated game does not do what he expects it to do, but a 34-year old hardcore gamer, who has been buying and playing his games since the Commodore VIC20 era. Also note that i'm not ranting or whining in any way, but just sadly stating the fact that my legally purchased Farcry2, and ONLY Farcry2, is displaying crash-like behaviour on my pc. My pc, which is perfectly running EVERYTHING it has installed on and in it, both softwarewise as hardwarewise. So, since I'm a veteran gamer and pc-user, I would obviously check the stats of ANY game I purchase. That said, I have a pc that is perfectly capable of running Farcry2 and does so smoothly and flawlessly with all options maxed out. I won't bore you with stats, other than that they are well above recommended specs. Again, i'm not ranting nor whining, but simply stating that Farcry2 crashes, and crashes badly and more frequent, when patched to the new standard of v1.03. And since THIS is the official ubi forum, where I expect ubi-representatives and dev's to read posts more than any other forum out there, I post it here. If you want to ask stupid questions and/or make stupid remarks, or kick in some more doors which are wide open from the get go, then go find some stupid, ranty, whiny post and stop bothering the grown-ups. |

I cant see any possible way that FarCry2 could have any effect, let alone one as significant as that, on the bios.
Not that this is likely to fix the crashes, but have you error checked that HDD recently? Might have some bad sectors there, especially if you've had it for some time. Tried using older drivers though? |

If you can make a post as long as that you obviously have enough time to read the stickies.

I can't see a normal explanation for it also, other than that it does happen. It seems more like a OS crash than an application crash, but even so, the effect is profound and scary. I could try some older nvidia drivers, but that would mean other games that require newer drivers would give problems, which isn't for me i'm afraid. And yes, offcourse I read the stickies, and offcourse I will report this via the proper channels. See this post more as a warning than as a cry for help. The fact that: - my pc is fine, both hardware and software (including HDD) - Farcry2 performs excellent on my system, with only sporadic and "normal" crashing in v1.00 - Farcry2 performs excellent on my system, with frequent crashing with violent effects in v1.03. From what I have seen, this is v1.03 and/or the latest nvidia drivers, or a combo of both. Either way, it is scary enough for me to either play v1.00 or not at all. |

Try the 182.5 drivers, fairly sure they still work with everything and they're stable.
Also have you done just a plain uninstall + installation of the previous drivers, or have you run DriverSweeper (or another similar tool)? |

Chill out dude, I am not going to make stupid questions or insult anybody at all. I am not a kid too. I am 43 and playing game same as you do (last 7 days - 54 Hours FrCry2). Just those crashes looks for me bit weird. The game for me runs OK except 3 discovered bugs (only). One bug fixed by patch already and I guess 2 to go and that is it. Moreover, my PC rigs are ancient you can see in my page on Xfire: http://www.xfire.com/profile/privatecolt/ and no any crashes. The bug on this forum for me more annoying when after applying smile all written text always gone and all what appliers in the forum: applied smile only. |

Yeah.....The "official tech support for Ubisoft" these clowns don't have a clue what they are doing.....My game has been crashing every 20-30 minutes of gameplay. I have an E6700, GTX285 with latest drivers(190.15), 4 gb ram, etc....Contacted them and they asked for DXDIAG file, sent it. They reply back I have to update all my drivers, so I update the drivers that are available and resend the file. they reply back saying the same thing as before, update the file, we did this 2 more times and I finally sent the links to the sites showing the latest drivers available. Their brilliant conclusion was they don't support the GTX285. They are dumber and more incompetent than Geek Squad techs. If anyone has any constructive suggestions to fix this issue, I'm all ears..... E6700 (stock) EVGA GTX 285 SSC 4GB OCZ Ram Win XP Pro/Vista Ultimate 32Bit All drivers up to date |

Interesting. The same thing has been happening to me as well ever since I installed the newest patch.
