Hi. I'm in Act2 and trying to release the prisoner from the locked structure at Dogon Sediko.
I've tried numerous times, but I can't free the prisoner.
I first tried this mission early on in Act 2 but after killing all the bad guys, and climbing the stairs, the door won't open.
I went back to a previous save and did other missions instead. Now, this is the ONLY mission available and I still can't free the prisoner.
I've tried several ways, several times.

I've run around exploding everything trying to draw attention. I've run EVERYWHERE and shot everything. I've set fire to everything as well. No one else comes out, nor can I find anyone else anywhere. I've re-tried and re-started this mission several times even. Even gone back to previous saves and re-accepted the mission.
I can never release the prisoner.

Please help. This seeming bug has stopped me dead at 69%. If this can't be fixed then I'm done because the game is unplayable.

Yup, the diamond in this misson is found by getting on top of a building, breaking some boards covering a hole, then dropping down.

I've been curious if this might be the same, but I've no idea how to get on top of this building if it is. Do you remember how to get on top of this one?
Thanks for the info though. I'm really hopeing it's just me, and not a bug.

is there a hill near the building with some shade structures going to it where you jump from the hill onto the structures to get there?

Well, there doesn't seem to be any way to get on top of this building. I even drove a truck from the other side of the village up to the awnings, but still can't get on top of the awnings. There is nothing nearby to jump from (or even get on top of to jump from).
When I go inside this building, my weapons are put away and I can't go into a crouch either. I thought that was odd. Is it?

It's going to be quite annoying if this is a bug that I can't get around. The game ends at 69% completion then for me. On top of that, I am not getting good sound. Just front speaker stereo, no 5.1 Frown

I've got good hardware here too. Q6600 chip, 780i sli board, 8800 GTS video. I built it a couple months ago in anticipation of Far Cry 2 and Crysis Warhead (short, but fun game). Crysis looks good on it too btw Smile

<sigh> I rather quite like this game (except for the multi-player) and I do want to complete it, and play it again. <sigh>

I couldn't finish the mission either. I backpedaled to the other mission through my save games to free the prisoner for the other faction on the island. It wouldn't trigger mission complete, either (Brewery). I killed everyone in both camps, found the prisoner, freed them, and the mission complete just would not trigger. Something tells me I'm just plain stuck. Is it the character (Marty)? My weapons? what triggers the mission to complete? It should complete when the prisoner is freed.

I've backpedaled again to take a different mission from the bar -- but something tells me I'll have to either start over completely or wait on a patch.

Very very bad, Ubisoft. You don't even acknowledge the bug!

I backpedeled the first time I hit this mission early on in act 2. I went back and did a mission for the other guys and rescued the prisioner from the brewery. But, this mission has come back and is now the only one left. There is no other mission I can choose. Just this one.

You have to go down the stairs to the Sub-Prison
I think it's on the east wall, then follow the blood stains on the floor to the prisoner. The
mission is over when you go back to the road and head west. But, be careful. A lot of soldiers are on or near the road.

I think I might have found a way around this one, trouble is, I might have screwed up something else in the process. Anyway, if you rescue the hostage BEFORE accepting the hostage rescue mission, then you'll get the message 'mission completed' (even though you didn't have an active mission). The map then shows all available missions again.
My trouble is, the mission the guy at the APR is now offering me is one I've already done (the nitrous oxide truck). I don't know if I'm going to get stuck here as I'm still working through other stuff, but it could be a problem in the future.
There are so many bugs in this game!

Well that is interesting. Thanks for the response. Much appreciated Smile
I remember that nitrous oxide truck mission. I thought there was going to be more to it. I'd like to do it again cause I got a couple ideas for the IED's Smile

So, I'll reload the save from just before accepting the mission, and head out to the village and see what happens.
I'll post back here after I've tried.

If it doesn't work, I'll continue with my alternate plan <shudder> I'm going to install Vista x64 as I'm using XP now. It's really OK for me as I use Linux and windows is ONLY my gameing system. But it'll give me the chance to finally use that other 2GB stick of ram that's been collecting dust for the last few months Smile
I might do this anyways even if the above trick works. I really want 5.1 sound.

Cheers,
T

I have similar problems here and I'm using Vista64 Home Premium.

Tried rescue mission at Dogon Sediko, killed all enemies and rescued the prisoner, but the mission is never marked completed. I backtracked in my save games and tried getting around the bug by doing the APR mission of rescuing the guy at the Brewery = I killed all the enemies at the brewry, freed the prisoner, and the mission is still not marking as completed.

I started a new game as a different character, and have to rescue someone at Lumber. Kill all the enemies, rescue the prisoner, and the mission is not marked as completed.

I have the same starting problem. On the mission to rescue the prisoner at Sediko I cannot access the prisoner. I enter the building and once inside you have no weapons and cannot crouch. Go up a ladder to the second level and there is a door that you should presumably be able to open but there is no way to open it. Tried everything I can think of but there is no way to open the door.

Last two posters - you didn't mention if you tried the fix I posted up above. It worked for me.

I haven't tried it yet. I switched over to XP and I'm starting over. I will let you know. I suppose the only thing to do is to save right before getting any mission from the UFFL or APR and going back to the save game and rescue prisoners before you actually get the mission.

I'll let you know how this works out.

I made it to the point where I had the lumber rescue mission. This time, I have 3 buddies still alive. I went ahead and took the mission and the mission ended successfully as soon as the prisoner was out of the room.

I think the bug happens when you have 0 to 1 living buddies alive.

I have tried this and also the suggestion to attempt the rescue with out killing anyone before hand. Neither works. Still looking for a solution.

I made it through act 1, now lets see if the "keep buddies alive" theory works on act 2.

What gets me is that I can't even report this to the "official" site because every time I try to, "an unknown server error occurred."

An update, I found the "official" tech support site. What had been stopping me with the "Server Error" is that I was trying to log in with my e-mail address rather than my user id. Well, the prompt says "e-mail address or user id."

Anyway, at least they have an official record. This game is way too buggy.

Ok, so this time through I rescued the prisioner because I happened to be in the area. I did not have the mission. AFter freeing the prisioner, I did not get the 'mission completed' notice though like you said.
But, I'm still playing and am at 55%. So we'll see what happens.
