I've searched and haven't found a reference to the mouse problem I have.
My mouse is over correcting in the game making it very hard to aim. Is this known as lag?
If so I can start tweaking to get the fps up but the rest of the game play is nice and smooth and I don't see any low fps strobe or jerking.
Is there a way to check the fps in the game?

Thanks in advance

Control Panel > Mouse > tab Options for pointer > check if "improvement of precision" is ticked OFF.

If that doesnt work, in game there are mouse options.

Go to the Options menu,

Under GAME tab
There is a lazy weapon option. This introduced inertia between the mouse and the weapon.
Setting it far left results in a more responsive performance.

Under Control tab.
Three mouse options:
Smoothing
Sensitivity
Acceleration.

All of these have to be set to your personal choise, but I have smoothing and acceleration off and sensitivity quite low.

Hope that helps.
