So is this **** going to be fixed ? Me and 3 of my buds are trying to play and keep getting this same BS. We haven't played it for a long time and figured we would try the new patches and see if the multiplayer was any better and can't even log in. It's not looking very promising so far......................

First let me say FarCry is by far the best game out there as far as im concerned and i own most of the best games out there since 1995..This CD key issue is a pain in the xxxx I have to ask myself or maybe ubi needs to ask themself: Do they sell more copies of this game because you have to have a cd key to play and it cuts down on you letting your buddy copy the game,,and we all complain about the problem with the cd key. Or do you think they would sell more copies from word of mouth from the guys who buy it legally and have no problems with cd keys and they boast to everyone they meet about how good the game is..im talking about when you tell people at work and at parties and on the internet...these are the kind of people your not gonna say hey use my cd and make a copy of it..come on loose a few sales from the kids who like to burn copies but look at the big picture which shows so many more sales if people dont have to say hey this is the best game ever,,but by the way your lucky to play every few days because of a cd problem,,or maybe you maynot even get to play...but what the heck take a chance spend the money buy the best game out there but dont call me if it want let you play cause of a cd issue...Thats all i have for now,,,from your friend Trapper: a serious gamer

I too purchased this game to play online. I'm a Hardcore Gamer who only plays online!!! I buy games and Never play them offline. I am Very Pissed that a game like this has so many BULL**** Bugs. I've played 2 complete games online in 2 days. I'm tempted to pitch this game and Never consider a Ubi Product again. It's comforting to know that Legit customers who purchase the game are subjected to this kind of gaming amusement.

Enter my CD Key?
That should be done once, period.

I guess I should stick to the FLAWLESS Online play I get in UT 2004...

UBI SOFT - Fix the Bull****, Customer satisfaction is more important, than Piracy !!!

Yea, this is a joke. I bought FarCry last weekend. Got home, tried to play online. First server I selected it said my key was in use. I tired others another and it worked. Went back to the problem server and it said in use.

Ubi's "tech" (used loosely) support reply told me it's my firewall and that I need to open a **** load of ports (40000-42999!!!). That's scary. Talk about forcing all of your customers to open their networks to hackers and worms. this type of requirement should be considered negligent behaviour.

I think they don't want to admit their "auth" process is worthless. Being a network engineer and knowing that if ports were the problem I wouldn't get online to ANY server, I asked them to explain why they think ports are the problem.

They completely ignored my question and told me "if I really want a new key, since it's not my key but my router that's the problem, they need to charge me $5.00".

What a scam.

So I got pissed and called EBGames to see if I could get my money back. They told me they're getting lots of people who just bought the game with the same problem. Some servers say Key is in use and others don't. They let me exchange it. Problem went away.

Only now today, every time I try to join a server, I can't. Only message is "Kicked!". No other info.

Nice to hear someone trying UBI suport; a lot of people think this volunteer community forum is it!

I think you're right if you can see the servers and get the pings it is not the ports for UBI...

Anytime you get kicked its possible that the server will retain your key for 5-10 mins.
Are you saying that the first server you try now kicks you?

2 quick questions:
Have you enabled the -devmode for the SP game?
If so all servers will automatically kick you, you need to delete that switch to the load shortcut.

Secondly are you trying to log into a Punkbuster enabled server? Can you connect to a none PB server? Do you have PB enabled client side?
Do you have the appropriate ports open for connection to Evenbalance? (Think these are also in the UBI FAQ...)

Your router is a potenial problem, as is any firewalls you may have if the above doesnt fix it please create a thread in this part of the forum and list your systems specs and exactly what problem you encounter...

In the meantime play SP!
Welcome to Far Cry!

Same thing here, brand new game virgin cd key, says key in use. Brutal. Even more brutal that it forces you to punch in the cd key yet again.
This is no way to treat paying customers.

How many people are having this problem for every one person that posts here? 10? 50?

Sad but true...
All we players can do is make sure we have copies of the maps we are trying to play and make sure we are sully patched...
Assuming you can contact UBI (ie correct ports open)

I'm going to lock this thread now...
There is enough info to explain the problem, but if anyone has non standard symptoms by all means raise your own thread with your specifics!

Thanks

CuZ
