Your Far Cry 2 PC game will not start, the splash screen shows and then closes to desktop or Far Cry 2 runs but crashes to desktop during playing the game. No events are recorded in event viewer. You are using the latest patches and drivers.

I have discovered the problem that stopped Far Cry 2 from starting until I re-installed the ATI drivers without a re-start.
This problem was caused by a little program call: ASUS GamerOSD For ATI/NVIDIA (Vista/win7)(c) Copyright ASUSTeK Computer Inc. I discovered it by mistake! I now don’t have Asus GamerOSD installed but just have SmartDoctor installed which still controls the cooling fan nicely. Next time I a buy graphics card I will try to find a manufacturer that does not have all these stupid add-ons. It seems to be the big selling point by advertising how many gimmicks they have. I am now a happy man! |

big_long,
You are my new Hero Man!!! I had the exact same problem that's been driving me insane for 2 weeks. I would have never thought about uninstalling ASUS GamerOSD if I hadn't seen your post. Thanks for that awesome information because it solved my problem as well. Of course, it would be nice if Ubisoft would add these solutions to their FAQ's to actually help people in the future; especially when you consider the number of people who have ASUS motherboards. Anyway, thanks again Man! |
