Hi guys,

I switch today to Radeon X1950Pro and wanted to play my beloved FarCry. Unfortunately, the game doesn't like my new graphics and stops at the splash screen.

I'm using 1.4 patch and the newest Catalyst 7.11. The game runs fine when I lower the graphics setting to Low, but man - I bought the graphics for better performance and quality.

How to fix it?

I'm having the very same problem with the same card: Radeon X1950Pro. All I've been able to find so far is that ATI doesn't seem to support AGP compatible cards anymore with their newest drivers.

I've been using the Omega 3.8.421 drivers which are the same as the Catalyst 7.10 drivers only with AGP support.

After starting the game for the first time after the installation, the game will run in low graphic settings, after turning up the settings and attempting to restart the game, it hangs at the splash screen every single time.

I know my post wasn't any help as far as trying to solve this issue, but I wanted to let you know you aren't alone in this! We may be out of luck, I dunno.

I have a Radeon x1950 pro and catalyst 7.11 and have been having the same problem as many people with this card: namely the game won’t load past the first screen showing the guy and the girl unless it is on the lowest video settings. Here is how I fixed it:

1. Uninstall and reinstall Far Cry 1.4

2. Launch the game. The game will auto-detect video settings, but leave them alone for now. The game will set everything to the lowest setting, but it should run fine.

3. Start the first mission. Once you can actually play, go into the video options and set
everything to max EXCEPT lighting, which you can set to high BUT NOT very high.

After doing this and I have been playing with no problems and enjoying the great graphics of this classic shooter. Good luck!!
